Not really. You say men “should” stop reinforcing female privilege. This is very different from men naturally changing the strategies they use in dating. Your post is a call to action, yet you agree no call to action is needed ?

Low smv men used to pay for everything for women because women still largely gained real benefit from it and appreciated it, and it 'would' help them meet women and get laid. When women work and earn on par with men, how many low smv men do you think are getting laid by buying drinks or paying for dinner? They're not. They're getting used and taken advantage of. They're not really being used and/or taken advantage of, they're using strategies that don't work. And if they keep using them with the…

It's only a "social decline" for low SMV males. But once there are enough of them, things will get bad. "Women" shouldn't change anything - western societies must restructure themselves in a way which allows more men to gain the social, intellectual and financial resources they need to attract a mate. To me it seems quite obvious that the one-sided focus on feminist thought as the solution to everything has played a huge hand in taking away opportunities from young men. Mostly because it assumes…

Looking at his post history, this guy apparently is a professional actor and model who looks like Jamie Lannister. He also works in silicon valley. And she is also a model who works in international finance. Guys with this type of life obviously spend a lot of time on reddit discussing female privilege with strangers.

Some of your points are kind of silly. Stop paying for everything all the time: Dinner, drinks, movies, concert tickets, vacations, Ubers etc. Heck, even let them pay for you for a change. The men who actually do this do this because they hope it will give them a bigger chance of getting laid. I don't think they'd keep doing it if it didn't work. That and they're compensating for low SMV/RMV. Reject any and all forms of lopsided relationship, marriage, or cohabitation arrangements: No li…

A much greater proportion of young Americans (especially men) are living with their parents or with multiple roommates, which makes sex and romance much more complicated since privacy becomes a rare commodity. Living with parents? Yep. Living with roomates? Uh no. I don't see why that would matter at all. Tons of people hook up in college/uni. Similarly, dating's gotten hella expensive for everyone because eating out, drinking, or going to clubs is more expensive than it was 10 or 20 years a…

Putting words in my mouth, strawmanning me, and saying its “bullshit” when you’re called out on it and then blocking me. You’d fit right into the SJW crowd.

No and you even admit you regularly make and delete accounts, what the hell does that say about you? It says that I have a life outside of reddit which I have to prioritize at regular intervals. Again, you're also refusing to be civil despite frequently demanding everybody else do the same. You don't get to demand civility if you aren't going to be civil yourself, I don't have to pay attention to you. What exactly did I do that was uncivil? Tons of MRAs act like children. Just like tons of femin…

Brand new account lecturing me that I'm acting exactly like a feminist? You literally used a term which is primarily used by radical feminists. It's used together with terms like "Sealioning", and "Tone policing" when they are confronted with saying stuff like #killallmen, male tears, etc etc etc. I'm pretty sure you're aware of this. And instead of actually replying to my argument, you use an ad hominem argument. What you're seeing isn't infiltrators. It's the MRA movement going mainstream …

Well that's what you're telling me, by whining at me to be 'civil you're pretty much telling to go along with what the slander and libel that these people are spewing about me and many others. Oh. So I'm "whining" at you now? What the fuck is that supposed to mean? Did you even read what I wrote? I said EXPOSE them. This is why I have such a problem with people on this sub who bring this shit up. You're all more than happy to lecture people who are reasonable and willing to talk as if we're all …

Modern attitudes towards males is much like attitudes towards left handed people used to be. Schools would train them to use their right hand for everything. Writing would be a struggle for them. Until some realized that everything was much easier if you just let them write the way they were meant to write. And no one looked back.

There is a certain subset of men who experience typically female problems (anxiety with body image, the male "gender role" etc) who probably find something like this liberating. They're the kind of men who thrive at menslib. I think their perspective is valuable and they should absolutely be able to live life as they want to. But I also agree with you: For most men this will feel unnatural and unhelpful. For most men I think the problem is the complete opposite: No one teaches men how to handle …

I'll be civil with people who will actually listen to me and pay attention. However I'm not going to give a shit what some fanatic thinks that wants to force me to agree with them, it's that simply, respect and civility can only work both ways. Sure. I agree with that. I think Jordan Peterson has demonstrated very well how you handle such people on many occasions. And there's nothing uncivil about refusing to discuss with someone who can't act like an adult. I would recommend you don't try and t…

I also love how you're making a call for 'civility' when feminists have made zero effort to be civil with us and are often the first to be patronising, arrogant and dismissive towards anything that doesn't fit their political narrative. And what? Should we sink to that level then? We're not fighting to convince the ones not acting civil - we're fighting to convince the people watching the debate. Every single debate where you act civil and the other person acts like a jerk is one where you win b…

If thats your definition of chemistry then thats just a combination of good conversation skills and interest No, that's not what I meant. "Conversation skills" help you when there's no chemistry. When there's chemistry everything seems effortless, you think in similar ways, you're interested in the same parts of a given story, you finish one another's sentences etc. I have no problem with it and i do think its how most men describe it but that isnt "indescribable" or anything like that. Below a …

I don't see OP describing chemistry in any way significantly different than I did. Anecdotally I have heard women agree with me so I don't really think that counts for a lot.

Got some examples to back that up with?
/r/PurplePillDebate02/04/19 02:51 PM

Yeah I know ,I am arguing there is no such thing as chemistry. If you've ever experienced talking with someone regardless of gender or age and feeling like you have to consciously plan out every step of the conversation, think of what to talk about etc - that's a situation of no chemistry to most people. When you sit down and conversation flows naturally because you think similarly that's chemistry to most people. Have you never experienced either of these two situations?
/r/PurplePillDebate02/04/19 02:24 PM
1

Yes. Chemistry isn't strictly a romantic thing, it's something you can have with anyone. You most likely have it with your friends. It's simply a connection where conversation flows naturally, you enjoy talking about the same things, you have similar humor etc. Chemistry + feeling attraction towards someone = a "spark".

Again I think this limits the quality of discussions that can be had there. As it does in any space where questioning fundamental assumptions is not allowed. And I guess we just disagree on that.

On a thread about say...suicide, you see another commenter talking about "toxic masculinity" and tell them to call it machismo instead. This spawns a long debate which takes over the thread and no discussion about suicide actually takes place. I assume you have a rule about remaining on-topic. So this would be removed under that clause. It doesn't seem all that different from what you do today. You could also say "take this to the megathread". You can absolutely use new vocabulary and if it orga…

I agree it's not up to you. Social movements evolve organically. But you're contradicting yourself here - you're saying it's not up to you, yet you're still basically regulating terminology. The AMA example sounds pretty unrealistic - I'm pretty sure you'd all be able to communicate in regular English even if some people decided to swap out some words. This all sounds very ad hoc.

I wrote a long reply here - but I realized that you didn't respond to the most important question: Why not the megathread? This would both prove that you welcomed discussion, and keep your sub clean. I wouldn't require any more moderation than today. If you want me to address your other points I have replies to them - I'm not ignoring your arguments. I just want to get your take on that.

Well, the definitions say it’s a pro-feminist sub iirc. But if you do allow it that’s good I guess. Terminology doesn’t make sense to ban discussion of. Language has a huge effect on the social world and has been something activists have fought about for decades. There are obvious reasons to debate the psychosocial effects of gendered language, and if your target demographic would fill your sub with discussions of it if it was allowed that sounds like a very clear signal to me that you’re removi…

I think the philosophy is part of the problem. Way too dogmatic. But there’s a very valid perspective there coming from a certain type of men who don’t feel at home in traditionally male stereotypes. I think they’re a minority compared to the men who feel like society doesn’t accept stereotypically masculine behavior - but their struggles matter and their voices are important. I agree the mods there seem ridiculous. But that stems from the rules they’re set to enforce. No one interested in good …

I actually like menslib - and I like this sub. I think some stereotypes about both are right. Some posts here are a bit too much anti-feminist for my taste. But the huge elephant in the room at menslib is that you’re not allowed to write posts (as I understand it) criticizing feminist theory or even discussing terminology. I thought it was a straw man when I first heard about. It very obviously limits the quality of discussions which can be had on that sub.

If you are someone that talks about the way people have treated you or upset you it will not go well for you. I don't agree with this at all. This is a natural part of human conversation. Most things in life can't simply be "sorted out" by taking action, it's natural to want to blow off steam with someone you're intimate with. If this is all you talk about of course that's unattractive - but that's because you probably have a victim complex, or you're overly sensitive, or you're a doormat. Or yo…

To judge those statements: "I was really upset when X said Y to me" Unless everything upsets you this sounds pretty silly. "I am depressed" Everything else being equal - sure. Not counting women who seek out men to "fix". "I am scared of Y outcome and I can't bring myself to do X" Again... Everyone are scared of something. Unless you're unusually scared of everything. None of the above (except maybe the depression part) is mutually exclusive from being someone's "rock". And although you say "act…

The guy that freaks out? you mean the guy openly displaying vulnerability? And the fat guy that is displaying stoicism is more attractive. You are making my argument for me. Sounds like we're just using different terminology. Your definition of vulnerability seems to be someone with no control of his/her own emotional state. What I'm talking about includes being open with who you are - taking off one's psychological "armor". Not bullshitting, not pretending to be someone you're not etc. As much …

No, I am talking about the limbic system. If you are terrified of what people will think about you (which by definition you are if you constantly go around thinking you can’t afford being seen as vulnerable), you will send out subtle signs of insecurity which men and women will pick up on. Think about a social setting. Remember the guy who freaks out if anyone jokes around with him? Who can’t handle taking shit? Everyone finds him insecure. His problem is that he can’t be vulnerable. A guy who’s…

I think that’s a false dichotomy. Confident and strong people are comfortable displaying weaknesses, weak and insecure people desperately put on a facade and try to pretend they’re someone else.
/r/MensRights01/04/19 08:42 AM
1

I don’t know about that last part. Vulnerability itself isn’t necessarily unattractive, I think it’s probably unattractive if you refuse to do anything about the situation which is causing you distress. I do however think that there are lots of situations where men face far worse consequences for showing weakness than women do - in anything from a job interview to an academic evaluation. So I think a lot of men develop a habit of hiding weakness because it’s functional in a lot of situations.

They just want clicks - which is perfectly understandable given the apocalyptic cutdowns which every major news outlet in the west is facing. I'm from Norway, and men's issues have risen to become very prominent in the media these days. I think what you need to do instead of simply asking for coverage is to write and submit articles yourself, and promote the articles you write. Once their analytics indicate that men's issues generate clicks, they'll consider making their own content. That's si…
