Well, before effective contraception and abortion, it definitely didn't happen. There may have been a brief period from say mid 70s to late 90s that was perhaps the high point of the average guy's ability to get lots of novel, no-strings sex. But even then, I don't think it was that common or available for Joe average attractiveness. Before contraception and abortion, there were just way more teenage parents. I think that is often the issue: Women can't communicate their needs well. Too many women just don't speak out if it's an uncomfortable topic, and they just sugarcoat things.
