I don't think it is, while I reckon JP is competent in his area of expertise, his knowledge and analysis of history and politics are deeply skewed and superficial. There are definitely some points that I agree with, but overall his new found celebrity status is not really deserved and he does not really live up to the hype. I would much rather that we focused on ideas rather than people.

but you're right, there's a shitload of idiots everywhere FTFY As someone who is from the left (not the American left, the American left is often centre-right in most places), there are some leftist groups that I would not want to be associated with, namely those that promote violence and censor ideas they don't like. Socialism in the world is largely non-existent. True Socialism is an economic model in which there is social ownership of the means of production be it workers or the state. This was a fine definition up until the end, the state is not factored in the definition of socialism or communism (specially since there is no state in communism) . Socialism has to do with the worker's ownership of the means of production, not the state's.

I think socialisms long term relationship with feminism in the US... That is exactly the gist of it, I am a socialist myself and I can assure you that socialism in the US is next to non-existent.
