Do you distrust all usage of witness testimony in the justice system?

I appreciate the consistency in your reasoning

You didn’t, I apologize I incorrectly assumed. So just to be clear that would mean following your logic mens rights would be rising up men and pushing women down? As you said they both operate with a hierarchal system.

For a second I’m going to play devils advocate. If feminism is based on hierarchy which is human nature, do you have an argument for why Mens rights wouldn’t also be a hierarchy?

It was really meant to breakdown misconceptions about memory. The overarching theme is that memory is a reconstruction of events not a perfect recall. For example every time information is recalled it has the ability to be altered unconsciously. So overtime it is possible to be left with a memory of events that does not reflect what actually happened. The scariest part is people have no idea, instead they think they are being completely genuine and accurate with their recall. There’s all sorts o…

I totally agree with you. This was actually a case I studied in a psychology course about memory and it’s limitations specifically how that effects the justice system.

I’m curious as to your thought process in which sources you trust and which ones you don’t, you don’t trust the courts of Canada to provide true information but you trust a news articles account/perspective of said information can you explain that? It was very nice having a friendly conversation with you but it is starting to sound you like you only value sources that support your beliefs.

I’m curious to know if your basing you entire judgment on this issue on only the article you cited or if you have viewed other sources as well. After reading a Supreme Court case briefing in the R. v. Kirkpatrick trial stating “There was evidence of the complainant’s lack of consent to sex without a condom”. I’m curious about how accurate a picture the article you cited paints as it gives the impression that no evidence is needed as you noted.

Well as you said it would fall on the man to provide proof are you not referring to providing proof of his innocence? Because that is the role of a defendant to disprove the allegation or in other words prove innocence, which I’m falling to see how it’s different than any other criminal proceeding
/r/MensRights05/09/22 10:56 PM
2

It falls in the defendant to provide proof that no crime was committed in a court of law, forgive me if I’m missing something but is that not typically how criminal proceedings work sexual assault or otherwise?
/r/MensRights05/09/22 04:55 PM

Worth noting condoms are not only used as pregnancy prevention but also STI prevention whereas birth control does not, which should also be factored into the discussion
/r/MensRights01/08/22 12:57 AM

I believe “everyone” who is proven to have lied about a sexual assault should be required to register as sex offenders is more the way to go

Just because over generalizations are normal I wouldn’t say that doesn’t mean it’s a weakness
/r/MensRights26/06/22 01:29 PM

You just jumped over the point that MRA is like everything else and not perfect, a refusal to discuss weaknesses is a weakness that both MRA and feminism share, now that is another similarity in flaws between the two
/r/MensRights26/06/22 01:07 PM

You just reinforced my point actually
/r/MensRights26/06/22 01:03 PM

I’m not looking for Kumbaya, I’m merely pointing out similarities in the flaws I personally see between the groups and see what peoples thoughts are
/r/MensRights26/06/22 12:58 PM

Just because you don’t get the same international stage does not mean you don’t make some of the mistakes they do which is my entire intended point I’m pretty sure you can agree that MRA has flaws and isn’t perfect because not really anything is in life and I’m simply pointing out some of these imperfections are the same as what is brought to attention about feminism in this very thread
/r/MensRights26/06/22 12:56 PM

I think I need to make an edit in this because my point here this really feminism has some big pitfalls and many of those are also things is seen in MRA also and seemingly so far nobody in this thread will admit that they have faults similar to faults of feminism is frankly proof to my point
/r/MensRights26/06/22 12:52 PM
1

That’s true in some cases but it’s still a massive generalization, your basically trying to make the argument yeah we do it but they do it more so it’s fine
/r/MensRights26/06/22 12:44 PM

I’d be betting there are way fewer mens shelters than woman’s which I know is your point and I am 100% in agreement that it is a huge problem I’m not disagreeing with anybodys points on why MRA is important here I’m simply highlighting the flaws that I see both sides falling victim too
/r/MensRights26/06/22 03:51 AM
1

Your right there will always be conflict it’s in our nature and it’s no surprise that much of current day feminism follows that but wouldn’t that mean the same for MRA? What makes MRA so immune to this pitfall?
/r/MensRights26/06/22 03:24 AM

You and I most definitely share a common belief on the second part of your reply
/r/MensRights26/06/22 03:20 AM

It’s incredibly offensive to ask for someone’s perspective on things and to have my own? Careful there you might just prove my point
/r/MensRights26/06/22 03:16 AM
1

You know you’re probably right which is why I’m not going to try it lol, but that being said that does nothing to prove the fact that there aren’t some similarities between the two, notice how I never said they weren’t also differences. I just think people have a much easier time accepting differences
/r/MensRights26/06/22 12:11 AM
2

You totally missed the point on this one, I’m not arguing feminist point nor am I arguing MRA points frankly I don’t identify into either category I’m simply pointing out similarities in how the two sides operate Would you argue that what I have pointed out is not a parallel?
/r/MensRights26/06/22 12:07 AM

My position is feeling like both feminism and mens rights are incredibly flawed as they both claim to search for true equality although neither one is actually doing that and both have given themselves a moral high ground neither deserves One main difference though is I would agree feminism has gotten a way bigger stage to promote this idea but it doesn’t mean it’s not still happening here too
/r/MensRights26/06/22 12:00 AM
1

I’m not trying to say feminism is better than mens rights or vice verse or argue that they fight for the same things I’m just trying to highlight that from my perspective there are way more similarities in their flaws than either side cares to admit hence two sides of the same coin in that regard
/r/MensRights25/06/22 11:56 PM
1

So you have given yourself the moral high ground just like what happens with feminism according to this community You have searched for facts supporting your beliefs rather than trying to disprove them and see if they hold true just like feminism You are denying that some front runners of feminist issues exist again as feminism often does with mens issues See the parallels yet
/r/MensRights25/06/22 11:55 PM
1

So based on your logic here you would be arguing that woman are not facing any issues currently or at the very least they are not facing many is that a far statement?
/r/MensRights25/06/22 11:45 PM
0

I agree with the problem but I would argue that by labeling mens issues as worse yes it might get it more attention but it will not be the equality that mens rights claims to aspire for, instead you would be simply turning the tables and as you yourself pointed out the flaws and inequality in that logic already
/r/MensRights25/06/22 11:29 PM
0

Yes they are different in what they fight for but are they really all that different in their flaws is more what I’m asking
/r/MensRights25/06/22 11:00 PM
-2

If one cannot be both wouldn’t that mean neither side is looking for true equality? If you can not spilt yourself between both that would mean both sides are always trying to take more than 50/50
/r/MensRights25/06/22 10:56 PM
-5

Would you ever consider the idea that the thought of men having it worse than woman today or woman having it worse than men today is part of the problem? Can’t there be an acknowledgment that both sides face issues and neither one has to be ranked ahead of the other? Nevertheless I do appreciate the genuine explanation
/r/MensRights25/06/22 10:44 PM

I would agree that questioning ideology and complaining are very different, they just both seem very prevalent in this community

If you want to talk facts, we can talk about the trigger bans beginning in multiple states across the US as a result

Your right celebration wasn’t the right word smug satisfaction by many of the commenters here, I suppose would be more accurate

Exactly this, EVERY person that cares about reproductive rights lost yesterday not just one gender
/r/MensRights25/06/22 02:08 PM

You know being mad at women is not going to give men more rights, so much misplaced energy Fight the problem not the other sufferers
/r/MensRights25/06/22 01:47 PM
-1

So rather than seeing men gain more rights to find equality you’d rather see women lose rights to be equal?
/r/MensRights24/06/22 10:44 PM
-2

I understand that mens reproductive rights are a serious issue but why are women losing some of theirs a celebration here?? Is everyone 5, if I can’t have it nobody can mindset is going to get everyone nowhere
/r/MensRights24/06/22 10:40 PM

Finally someone gets it, so much energy wasted fighting each other

I might get down voted to hell on this one but I’ll give it a shot I agree a lot with OP. Both sides have valid arguments and topics worth discussing and both sides have serious issues with over generalizing and stereotyping each other. This subreddit hates all feminists because they overgeneralize and stereotype, well surprise your doing right back. Many of you have become what you hate
/r/MensRights13/06/22 06:34 PM
You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
