A lot of women who pursue medicine end up working part time or dropping out of the workforce entirely in their mid thirties because a lot of women who pursue medicine also marry men who are also in medicine whose income is enough to support a family by itself and they want to spend more time raising a family. Principals are such pimps. j/k I would rather light my dick on fire than grow up to be a high school principal. also http://nces.ed.gov/programs/coe/indicator_pal.asp The percentage of public school principals who were female increased at both the elementary and secondary levels from 1999–2000 to 2007–08, although the gender distribution varied. The percentage of female principals increased from 52 to 59 percent at public elementary schools and from 22 to 29 percent at public secondary schools.

Actually worse than that math teacher I had was a literature teacher in middle school. The curriculum was such that 'Vocabulary' and 'Literature' were two separate grades even though they were taught in the same classroom. Long story short, I aced pretty much every test and quiz but a huge chunk of our grade was the notebook we were supposed to keep of all our assignments throughout the semester. As a teenager I couldn't bring myself to give a shit about saving the records of this useless inform…

Note that I also said that there are more criminally stupid men than women. Women just tend towards the mean. But then again, for blacks, a 105 IQ is generally considered 'gifted'.

And if you don't understand variance which is exactly what was talking about I'm going to go ahead and assume that you're not that bright.

Yeah, but this was over 10 years ago. I was a kid. They're all kids. And frankly I didn't need to be catered to as much as left alone. I had no problem covering the material on my own.

I see this and can't help but consider how education is all about accommodating the student of average intelligence and that there are more average girls than average boys. Men are nature's dice. There are more male geniuses and more criminally stupid men. Women cluster more around the mean intelligence. I have somewhere to be so I'm just going to throw in this anecdote from when I was in high school. I was so bored in Algebra II that I just started working ahead in the textbook and ended up fin…

Yeah, women are way outpacing men in the degrees that basically require just showing up and parroting what the professor thinks back to them. But when it's about building a bridge that doesn't collapse or software that doesn't crash it's almost all men.

I don't know any cooks who actually make minimum wage, but it starts at around 9 and caps out at around 15 when you are running broiler and have a lot of expensive steak that has to be cooked accurately to temp on your station. For servers, walking out of a 6 hour shift with less than $100 is typically considered a "bad" night.

Want to talk about a wage gap, the difference between what (primarily male) cooks make vs what a (primarily female) waitstaff makes, the 74 cents on a dollar myth look like a fucking joke.

Proper usage: Know that the lack of cognitive dissonance that allows me to genuinely love myself while simultaneously believing myself unlovable goes hand in hand with the lack of cognitive dissonance that allows you to believe that you can fix an individual woman without acknowledging that there is an overarching problem that broke her in the first place. The discomfort arising from holding two contradictory opinions doesn't "allow" you to do anything.

I don't know, when it comes to middle to upper management positions that justify their existence by generating inefficiency while wearing expensive clothes and having perfect hair, the women you describe seem perfect for the job.

I'd like to contest the author's assertion that this kind of half-assed flakey commitment to one's profession is acceptable in the journalism, law, or culinary fields. It's not.

Yeah, then look at what they make compared to the dudes in the kitchen. At a previous gig where we were making sandwiches in front of the customers ala subway the girls would be overwhelmed because they are basically shitty at production line cooking and tips would go up because a bloo bloo the poor little girl can't handle the rush. I swear to god they would start to move even slower when it got busy. Then right when I started proposing strategies to speed up our ticket times they had me canned…
