I never even watched How I Met Your Mother but I agree, I detest the whole “oh let’s give a misogynistic guy a daughter, that’ll melt his heart and make him a good person.” Spoiler alert: I was the only daughter of a misogynistic man. It is not a good thing. Women are not your pawns for character development.

stupid porn addicted brain comments I hate it so much. Every post, no matter how not-connected, has some “oh stepbro” bullshit on it. I remember seeing a post of a girl getting herself stuck in some glass coffee table thing and the comments where all “oh stepbro I’m stuck” and that mess. The girl couldn’t have been more than like 12. And got herself stuck in glass, so she was probably terrified. And all these depraved men could think about was how to fuck her.

Yeah I wish guys like that would just go ahead and say they’re childfree. I’d have way more respect for them if they were just upfront about it.

Thank you for this post for real. I sometimes browse male central subs like MGTOW and red(?) pill-esque subs because I’m still shocked by a lot of the depravity. I come away feeling bad but not from guilt, more a “how can people really think and feel this way”? So thank you for this explanation it is really helpful.

Oooof I definitely feel that last paragraph for real.

Tbh I don’t think I’ve even watched any of her videos, though I do like quite a bit of her music. At least some of her earlier stuff has more of a romantic and “owning” her sexuality/appeal kind of vibe to it. But this video?? It’s like “yeah, I’m the leader of the free world, but what’s most important in your appeal to me is” -like you said- “my butt looks cute in this short dress while I’m ‘stuck’ in the oven.” And it just feels super degrading as a woman that another woman is continuing this …

I am truly floored by this video.

A poll would be cool. Edit: I also really agree with you. I’m way more about being with someone I love rather than focusing on whether I orgasm or not. But everyone has different preferences.

I feel this way as well but also don’t have experiences with anything other than average. So I guess that’s some of the basis for people.

I can attest to this as well.

Men get mad when you diy because they perceive it as them not being good enough. That or they don’t expect nor care if a woman has any pleasure in the ordeal.

Yeah, it’s a pretty good rule of thumb. Also those that seem to only focus on how “nice” they supposedly are completely forget about other good or even better traits. Like ok you might be “nice,” but what about considerate? What about pleasant? What about engaging? There are a million and one reasons to be attracted to someone, and just nice doesn’t cut it.

You do know there’s more to attractiveness than just fucking, right? And a lot of different factors can go into attractiveness, for fucking or for more emotionally/spiritually bonded relationships? Then, a guy comes along and shows a woman kindness and respect, and gets rejected...”you just wanted me as an object!” Most guys who say this are actually not nice, they’re just feigning it because they think it’ll get in the woman’s pants. Is that really nice, or is that manipulation?

My husband neither! He didn’t even want me to clean his underwear because he thought it was too dirty for me (it wasn’t—and I wouldn’t have cared anyway, he’s clean my period-dirtied things before). I’m truly blessed with a clean man 🥺

I used to feel like this because I was raised under super religious “sex is awful” influences but then I met and married my husband and it’s way less intrusive now.

For real asking for information’s sake, because I really don’t know the difference (newbie feminist!), what characterizes fourth wave feminism?

Thank you. Yes, I cut him out and went no contact some years ago and have stayed no contact. Yes, unfortunately change can’t happen overnight. But I’m really glad you’re trying your best to be there for your niece now

Why are men so eager to make women feel uncomfortable? Because those men think that the “compliments” they give us shouldn’t make us uncomfortable. They think we’re all overreacting by saying their “compliments” are sexual harassment. I was in line somewhere the other day and a guy came up to me and said “just give up trying to pull your shirt down, that’s not gonna cover that” referring to my ass. And he actually believed that was a compliment! So he was floored with me ignoring him and just be…

I always wore baggy clothing and felt uncomfortable. Ugh this makes me remember when I was like 10 I loved wearing big ass shirts five times too big for me and I never understood why until now because I remember one of the first things my dad did to assault me was touch my breasts 😭

I knew someone that did this all. The. Time. I hated it. It would be so obvious that whoever he was talking to would be dying internally just like I was. Edit: and it was always public workers like cashiers or waiters that he unloaded on all the time

I cancelled them not long after I started using them because their advertisements and promotions were so sexualized. I don’t remember what exactly finally put me off but I just hated how gross they were. Couldn’t respect them after that, so I’m not shocked about this.

I had a guy kinda do this one time. Kept asking for pictures... on faceboook... where I have like 100 photos of myself and family. I said "yeah I have profile pictures you can look at like everyone else" and he replied, "yeah that are like a year old." I replied "oh, boo hoo," and immediately blocked him. Lol.

I wonder if she means straight penis as in his orientation, like shes not looking for someone bi or a transgender that has a certain orientation. Not so much the physical nature of it 🤷🏼‍♀️ Edit: I also had this standard in dating, at least when a close bi friend of mine liked me. Not to be bi-phobic, was just me personally.

I see it a lot in the south US. Girl, girl, boy, parents then quit trying and even though he's the youngest, baby brother is treated like a king. Girl, girl, girl, parents then quit trying and the father says he gave up trying. It's awful.
