College was what I was referring to - PJs are definitely common and not the worst thing I've come across. I'm not saying it's a bad thing to be comfortable when learning (especially in those AM classes) but once your school starts to resemble the "People of Walmart" website, it's taken a lot less seriously.

Damn that's rough. Sacrificing comfort for appearance shouldn't be a thing for students to worry about. Looks at the person wearing PJs and flip flops in the desk over... OK maybe that needs some revision.

I can't imagine why they bothered when they had to glue their hands to their skirts so it wouldn't fly up an inch. The last straw for the school was when a girl was walking down the bus aisle and she tripped and fell ass-up in front of everyone in all its bare glory. The bus driver complained, and that's when the vote to make the uniform unisex came into effect. Personally, I voted for it. I never liked the kilts anyway - they had to be dry cleaned and I'm a toss-it-all-in-the-wash kinda gal.

I can't help but feel that unisex shorts would have been fun. Do you know why they banned the shorts for boys in the first place? PS: That's some first-rate protesting!

Ontario, CAN. The only Public HS with a uniform in my area. Here's a related article on the banning of female kilts in the GTA.

This was done at my school. The girls were wearing their kilts too high and refused to wear the mandatory undershorts or even sometimes underwear so they banned the kilts and made both genders wear pants and polo shirts. The result? Some of the girls complained that it was too hot in the summer but the argument died out quickly as new students that had never gotten to experience kilts rotated through the system.

Well count your blessings, because that sounds like an amazing relationship. It reminds me of the one I have with my partner, and I'm so thankful for that. I also have many gay friends and some of them do fight with their partners - all the time. Like I said, it's all about personality, regardless of sexual orientation. It's not easy to find someone you can have a fluid and relaxed relationship with. I wish you and your husband the best of luck in your future endeavors.

This caught my attention as well. She should be encouraging her son and nurturing his skills as he grows. If he's used to constantly being talked down to, he's going to start feeling awful about himself. No one should be demoralized for doing something "their way". She should be setting a good example for her son because attitudes transfer.

Anyone upset with this subreddit has never really visited it. I mean, really sat down and took a good hard look at the injustices everyone faces - both men and women, and how mostly everyone on here acknowledges this and actively promotes/supports a healthy balance between the rights of both genders. Does it matter that I'm a woman? No. If believing that men shouldn't be subject to the discrimination they face makes me wrong, then I don't want to be right... go ahead and "tag" me.
