I think it’s normal, but that might just be because I’m in the same boat right now lol. I’m objectively doing a lot better without him, but I do still get sad over my NVM ex husband sometimes. I just try to let myself feel my feelings and follow that up with reminding myself that I miss the person I made him up to be in my mind, rather than the person he actually is and that I’m so much better off without that weight dragging me down.

I don’t care how much money he has, if a man tried to talk to me in that patronizing ass tone he can hit the door.

“You don’t have to figure out why they’re abusive to leave.” !!! This whole comment is so poignant and important. If I had known that sooner, I may have stopped trying to psychoanalyze my ex and be ~understanding~ and just gotten the hell out of there before I married him 🙃

I got married at 22, and I’m now going through a divorce at 24. I WISH I had taken the time to focus on myself and my education instead of throwing it all to the wayside for a NVM for the sake of “love”. Trust me, you’re doing the right thing! I’d rather be “weird and lonely” in the eyes of others for the rest of my life than spend one more minute in the tenth circle of pickmeisha hell that was my marriage.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
