Or you just hear about it more because “trans” automatically makes it a more sensational story. If there’s no marginalized demographic involved, it’s just an asshole being an asshole. If there is, it’s “OMG, discrimination! Social justice warriors rise up! Spread this story far and wide! Send our ratings/website views through the roof!”

Comedy has never been about being family friendly. If it were, Carlin would’ve died penniless. Carlin was quite successful as a “mainstream” comedian before becoming a counterculture icon. Had he maintained that image, he would certainly have been less influential, but hardly penniless.

She says “reinforces a stereotype”. Stereotypes are generally wrong. She’s saying people will see it as support for their mistaken belief.

yeah, the mother went off with the father to get lunch it looks like and abandoned the child with the step-father That's not "abandoning" the child. That's leaving them in the care of someone you trust. The fact that he didn't deserve that trust shows poor judgment on her part, but hardly makes her as culpable as he is.

For her, maybe, but why would Bieber bother with a has-been?

She distracts from the "grabby with teen boys" issue by being an idiot anti-vax nutjob. She gets denounced plenty, just not for Bieber-groping.

Violence is never a reasonable reaction to speech. They're fucking words. They can be ignored. A fist to the jaw can't. Talking like an asshole doesn't justify assault.

Business and service fraternities are a different matter, and often open to both sexes.

So this "movement" is a plot by wimpy men and ugly chicks?

Dude must have some wicked B.O. to elicit that kind of reaction.

They're not incompetent by any means, but have been notoriously misogynistic and homophobic for as long as most American adults can remember. Reports of female personnel being sexually assaulted, scandals like Tailhook, and policies like "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" have given the US armed forces a reputation for exactly the sort of behavior this poster is addressing, albeit with the genders swapped.

Bottom-center photo appears to be a man hitting on another man. I honestly never expected to see the US military so inclusive in my lifetime.

It is quite possible the title was written by the editor rather than the writer. If so, the editor has done the writer a tremendous disservice.

Anything humorous. Make it work for you. In this context, "weird" can mean "funny" or it can mean "off-putting". Accentuate the "funny" before she settles on "off-putting". Something unexpected and mildly self-deprecating would be ideal.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
