They don't. Abortion isn't abdicating anything. There's no child. And adoption can only occur if both parents want to put the child up for adoption so that's 100% equal.

It's not just the cost of raising a child. It's the cost of raising a child in a manner to which it is entitled given the value of its parents. You don't get to father a kid s a multimillionaire and then leave them on skid row, even if you are paying enough for them to be fed and clothed until they are 18. You are a parent you have responsibilities you cannot so easily abdicate.

You said sub saharan Africa that's a big place most of which were British and French colonies. It is an answer, probably the correct one but there's no need to be a jack ass because people don't make that unlikely connection.
