Not true. It's how modern muslims are coping more and more recently, from living in co-ed roommate situations and living together. And because the rules are so rigid, it gives a lot of power and rights to both parties. Seems interesting to me.

Actually, weirdly enough, Muslims have had a form of that for thousands of years.

Yup. The real question is...why are they doing this? Because women feel like they are being ogled by men and so are "uncomfortable"? Are they then claiming that there are no lesbians at the gym who also ogle the women? Or that women don't don't ogle and giggle to each other about hot men? None of it makes any logical sense.

Damnit. All of the jokes had already been made by the time I got here.

Ummm, I may be wrong, but wasn't that "rape" subreddit linked, with the exact same text, to BOTH /r/mensrights AND /r/twochromosomes? There was no accusation that men are evil and trying to shame men here, someone just thought that that people of both subreddits might be interested in talking about the issues it presented. I thought it was a little weird, myself, but you can't pretend it was some shaming tactic when the exact same post was made in both places.

I think that would be assault, not rape. It's also called stupidity. I hope the guys who did that to you now have several kids and diseases that they got from their clever antics.

No. He's being downvoted because he claimed that women coming here defeats the point of this subreddit...he is being actively anti-female, just as you accuse all feminists as being anti-male. He also makes claims that he conveniently can not back up and admits that he can not prove.

Nope. Tomek77 already acknowledged that calling your post baseless and unhinged is correct in that you used lies to prove a point. If you had had real evidence of what you were trying to say, you would have used that...but you didn't.

Ah. But we'll never know what would have happened if your point were proven, because it wasn't. In fact, it was proven wrong again and again and again. But I notice you haven't apologized or admitted you were wrong. Now who is being illogical and refusing to change their behavior?
/r/MensRights04/04/10 08:05 PM

No, he cited none. The one example he gave is him lying about the content of my comments, and I showed that very clearly. It seems that if it weren't baseless, he could have easily come up with ONE example that actually supported his conclusions.

I would love to hear a logical, coherent argument in favor of alimony and see what arguments the other side has, because I honestly can not come up with one good one.

Do you ever think that they, like me, are women OR men who find the content of your postings offensive or wrong in some way? There might not be some master feminist plot? And come ON. Are you really justifying your dislike of outspoken women with "they've had the front seat for half a century" line? Despite whether or not that is true (and I don't think it is), when you give that argument credence, then you must give credence to the "Men have had that front seat for thousands of years so now the…

I'm going to ignore the blatantly aggressive tone of that response and use it for some constructive discussion: wouldn't feminists be against alimony? Doesn't it feel like both sides should be in favor of abolishing this? Feminists should resent the implication that they need men to support them fiscally, and men have more obvious reasons for wanting to get rid of it.

it is ultimately a sub reddit about men, so when there are enough women coming here and self rightchously demanding a front seat it starts to defeat the object. This doesn't criticize women who are against men's rights, it criticizes outspoken women. Because god forbid women come here, be passionate about human human rights AND get a front seat to the game. And you mention loud-mouthed women yet again in this response. So...you like us on your side as long as we keep our mouths shut? Awesome. An…

My parents were going through a rough time a while ago, and while they ultimately got back together, I have always suspected it was only because of financial considerations. He could have lost his business that he had built for over twenty years while she did...basically nothing. I honestly can not understand why we haven't torn down these kinds of laws.

Yeah, I feel your pain. Things also change for the better when you can just lie to get what you want. Good work!

Yeah, I was more using "you all" the way we do in the south...like, the group of people to whom I am referring. And I meant only to refer to the guys who do this. Obviously I don't think all of the men on this board, or even a large percentage of them, think this way. Sorry if I didn't make that clear.

But this knee jerk reaction is exactly the problem. Your first reaction to this post, this post that is a blantant and outright LIE, was to jump on the bandwagon and say, it is true! These women are just here to further the feminist agenda! You took his word for it, and now your story is, "Oh, well, you're a bad example of how women are just here to control us, BUT THEY ARE STILL DOING IT." Bullshit. You guys claim that feminism is evil because it's inherently anti-male, and from the second I ma…

It's not opinion when it is a fact. I have not only defended men in one 2x post, I have done it consistently though my comment history, and for him to claim that I haven't is a downright lie.
/r/MensRights04/04/10 02:57 PM

Because if you look through my comment history, it is clear that I HAVE defended men, and making claims to the contrary is just willful deceit.

No, it's not true. Look at my reply. I have defended men plenty with this account, as well as my older account that I had before this.

Really? None at all? Me defending a random redditor when people were calling him creepy for jacking off to girls on here? What about months ago when I mention my concern over men's rights concerning reproductive rights? Or me on 2x basically calling a woman a liar and a user when she explained that she is just with her boyfriend for money? How about when I tell a son to try and understand and sympathize with his father who cheated on his mother? Or me defending a man who said he engages in sex to…

I actually have commented on a few sexist things on 2x, and just recently was downvoted when I didn't entirely believe a girl's "but he ABUSED me" story. And I'm not sure what the fuck you're talking about with having as many men comment as women....my only point to you is that, in an open forum, people will respond who you might like or might might hate. That is why it is an OPEN forum. If you don't like hearing from women, ignore us. My name makes it pretty obvious what kind of sexual organs I…

Aww :( And you seemed like such a rational, smart guy, too. I guess this means we won't be bffs? Well, I'm sorry our little friendship has to end here, but I know I'll take solace in the fact that you seem so happy and well-adjusted. Good luck with everything!

I would like to get sarcastic and say that it shouldn't be surprising that in an open, very popular website, a female could wander in and give her two cents...but I'll refrain because I do understand to a degree. However. Just today I heard about a friend's boyfriend of two years breaking up with her an hour after she was told she might have cancer. Did we do some over the top venting about men, saying things we don't really mean? Of course. But we did it privately, because if I said in a mixed …

I'm not defending feminism. But to say that is this evil machine who will keep churning out misandry for decades despite the stamping out of other forms of bigotry and the gradual but noticeable enlightenment of society? That seems paranoid. I think we're just talking in circles now, and I'm a little sleepy, so let's just agree that I'm calling you a pessimist while you contend you're a realist.

Let me introduce you to a little thing called "social networking." Not just networking, but social networking. What goes on here is people post stories, comments, perspectives, questions, feedback, and other people can reply. Some may be topics of relevance or interest to you, some may not. If I cared about everything on reddit, I wouldn't leave the house. Therefore I read things that intrigue me, I skip things that don't, and a fair amount I am ambivalent about but I'm bored enough to look at a…

If 2x spent as much time ranting about what manipulative cunts the opposite sex was for months and months, and then suddenly seemed to mature and be interested in actually discussions without all the juvenile hate-fueled rhetoric, I would expect someone to comment on it. But as I said, it seems that your venting about women is so important to you, and I promise you I have no interest in that sort of thing. I'm more interested in productive discussions rather than childish temper tantrums.

I wasn't referring to bigotry on your part...I am referring to your statement...you think that while time may stamp out one misinformed perspective, "the misandry rooted in feminism will just take another form." You're saying that no matter what, feminism is this evil creature that will create new and creative ways to keep men down. That's not realism...that's pessimism bordering on paranoia.

Naw. It's ok. You can go about your business and rest assured that I won't be reading or commenting on any posts of yours. It's clear that you were not a part of the thoughtful, interesting section of /r/mensrights that I was talking about. Carry on!

The quote makes a lot of sense. Women are afraid of porn, and afraid of men turning to porn because it gets men off in a way they think they can't. They think, "Why would my husband/boyfriend want me when he turn on the computer whenever he wants and find an 18 year with the best body I've ever seen getting it up the ass?" Because sex and love are often so entwined in the female mind, a male getting off to someone other than themselves feels like cheating to some women, and is a huge threat to t…

I agree with most of what you say, but I really chafe under the whole "it's biology" line. I've seen this used to justify cheating.."Men are biologically wired to sleep with many women! It's how we were made!" Porn should be acceptable because it's something that is fun and a healthy part of sexuality, but I think the whole "men looking at porn is a biological imperative" is a bad argument.

I don't think it's as easy or as deliberate as that. I come up with a different answer when I think about why women view porn as evil and gross, and I don't think it's some diabolical scheme to control a man's sexuality, but more insecurity. The thought process is, "She's hotter than me, she's different from me, she turns him on in ways I can't, and therefore she must be destroyed." It's no secret that women have a lot of jealousy when it comes to other women, and when this threatens their famil…

I'm not sure how you got that impression. Same means...same. I think you're annoyed at this post for some reason and are reading things in an unnecessarily negative way.
/r/MensRights01/04/10 08:02 PM

When I said "the same goes," I was implying that men with a score to settle would, as I said with women, veer towards the radical side. No backpedaling needed..."the same" means that similar political/cultural climates brings about the same results, be it men or women.

Thanks for that thoughtful explanation. It makes a lot of sense.

Of course men's rights in theory is not about being anti-women, the same way that women's rights shouldn't be anti-men. But often in practice these ideals are not upheld. Women who have a score to settle with men take refuge in radical feminism and claim that all men are hateful creatures, and the same goes for men who have some score to settle. And I think if you're claiming that /r/mensrights has never been a haven for sexism, you need to read comments more carefully.
