That wasnt a slap in the face, I was just swiping left... in person. Edit: wow, guess my sense of humor is way off. That was meant as joke / sarcasm.

The answer to this is to leave the relationship as soon as it starts. Anything which pushes you to feel the need to defend yourself is an indication to leave immediately. No one should be hitting or throwing things at anyone, and I'm quite sure this wasnt the first instance of this. I've had abusive girlfriends, and once they show what they are capable of, believe them. It doesnt get better, they dont learn, and it only gets worse.

Male perspective: variety can be the spice of life. Do I want someone with radically opposed views on core beliefs? Of course not. Does a person with different tastes in music, art, hobbies, etc bring new things into my life, absolutely. Like all things a balance is key. Enjoy the things you do, and if he has an interest, share them. If not, enjoy them in private. What book you are reading isn't going to effect my life one bit unless its and audio book. This happened recently with me. I love to …

Don't underestimate the value of words. There were large stretches of time in there when we lived on opposite sides of the country, including a month and a half while I had covid, and our daily video calls and texts were invaluable. Remember, he is competing with himself most likely. It's normal and healthy to push yourself and often feel you want to do / achieve more. It sure is what drives me. Unless it becomes a chronic situation, just chalk it up to him being ambitious.

Male perspective: I just went through this. In the three years since I met my GF I went from the lowest point in my career, to the highest. The night we met I'd just run my small business into the ground, and was living of what savings I had. After hearing my story, she'd said to herself "He is either full of shit, or great at what he does, I want to see where this goes". Along the way we lived in basically poverty, I worked back breaking physical labor, and turned down what seemed like an amazi…

"I'll give you something to cry about!", ok, that came out leaping out of a long closed deep recess for me. I was an overly emotional child, I'll admit that, but in the process of "becoming a man" I'm afraid I over corrected. The military gave me the tools to "control" my emotions, but now I think it more gave me the tools to just bottle them up. In the past five years, I've had a major injury I still suffer from, lost my GF of ten years to infidelity, lost my career, tanked a startup buisness, …

Few years ago I was trying to start a buisness, and failed miserably. My only regret was having to sell my brand new customized Nightrod special. Went through some real shit years, but finally got myself another bike. Went with a vrod Muscle this time, pure joy. It just turns gasoline into happiness. Riding it home was one of the best feelings I'd had in a long time. Get yourself some wheels, get out on the twisties, and stay safe. https://imgur.com/i7EBirG.jpg

Had an awesome day myself. Full rewarding day at a job I love. Then rode my motorcycle to the park for a few hours of skateboarding, and finished with a nice grilled chicken dinner. These are the kinds of posts I love here. Sure, it's important to discuss the other stuff, but these posts really lift my spirits.

About 15 years ago I came to the conclusion that "Being a man means not letting anyone else define what being a man is". I am now a 45 year old man child who is happy. I love my job. I have hobbies and toys I enjoy. I only interact with others by choice and on my terms. Anyone who tries to tell me to MAN UP gets either a derisive look or straight up laughed at. Who do you think you are to tell me how to be a man? My life, my time, my rules. Don't like it? Fine, don't be around me. At work, I am …

For me the key factors are being close as possible to work, I absolutely hate wasting time driving. Being close to open country roads, I want to be out and alone on the motorcycle within a few minutes of leaving the driveway. Quiet area, away from busy streets, loud neighbors, etc. The house itself really doesn't matter to me. I live pretty minimal and don't need a lot of space. Though next time round I've definitely going to have a basement and a garage again, those I miss.

My girlfriend is a union pipe fitter, I assure you she has dug a hole or two and is better with large tools than I am. That said, they are few and far between and the mentality expressed by the woman in the video makes he sick.

I'm a huge fan of separate bedrooms when it's an option. It has nothing what so ever to do with intimacy, it has to do with quality sleep. I've had sleep issues my whole life, and need pitch dark, zero sound, etc. The horrible zombie state dragging in to work on less than 2 hrs of sleep night after night is all to familure for me. My current place is too small for it, so we've taken to sleeping off cycle, I sleep at night and she generally sleeps while I'm at work. I love to cuddle, spend as muc…

Best deals you'll ever find on a bike is in a new father's garage. Show appreciation for the bike, anthropomorphize it and he'll emotionally link it to the new kid, and promise it a good home.

I spent about 5 years MGTOW, and it changed my life. It taught me my value, how to be happy with who I am, and how to avoid the types of relationships that lead to so much pain and loss. I was 100% sold, and very happy with my life, when I met a woman who changed my mind. We agree, we get along, and we both add great value to the others life. I'm still firmly in the no marriage and no children camp, though I do live with her. MGTOW allowed me to avoid many relationship options I would have jumpe…

Honestly, it was almost in an instant. I had been so angry for so many years, always feeling I had no choice in life. Teachers, social workers, psychologists, being placed in special ed, pressured to go to college when I didn't want to, always being labeled a failure at things I didn't choose to be a part of. Joining the military was the first real choice i made for myself. I walked in, did very well on the ASVAB, and was offered and amazing tech school / job. Being yelled at by this small man w…

Well, my vasectomy certianly controls weither I have kids, and she hates the idea of children as much as I do. You are definatly in some sort of anger phase, and your claim to be able to see the future tells me you are either a troll, or not a rational person. I was a nightmare of emotions until one day when I was in the military. This Sargent was going off on me over some stupid shit that was a complete misunderstanding. If I was allowed to talk, I could have cleared the whole thing up, but I was a student e2, and he was an e6, and there wasn't a damned thing I could do but stand there and take it. You aren't going to fix your life by adding someone else. You simply can't be happy in a relationship if you aren't already happy with yourself. Just like having a child to fix a shitty marriage only makes things worse, getting a girlfriend to try and make your life better is going to backfire. Get your life in order before you try and share it. Decent women are few and far between, why is any woman of value going to want a man who isn't bringing his best self to the table? Sure, there are women…

It tool me decades to find one, but I'm very happy in my current relationship. I has very low self esteem in relationships, even though I've always had a high self worth in general. I was so scared of being single I'd start a long term relationship with the first woman who was interested, and then stick with it through terrible shit out of fear of being alone. There are so many other reasons for a woman in her late twenties to disagree with Trump, I honestly don't think hitting the wall enters into it. Climate denial, the escalating situation with Iran, cozying up with Putin, the leader of a country whose military conducted a multi pronged attack on our election, student loan debt, health care, are all topics which both men and women are concerned. That's not just a list of buzzwords, those are just some of the major topics being debated leading up to…

As far as brain washing goes, I would suggest guys who spend time here are either immunized to it, or looking to break free of it. If this sub devolves into a political one, we are going to drive away more men than we help.

There is nothing emasculating in offering to split a bill. Most men would appreciate it, especially if it's a first date and you haven't established the relationship. Another option, assuming things went well, is to offer to take him out next time. It shows you want to see him again, and that you value his company.

I had given up, and needed a mindset to help me understand and accept the things which had happened time and time again. MGTOW gave a clear and simple picture as to why I was so unhappy, and why I never found what I was looking for. I have never hidden the fact I want a life long, committed, relationship with a great woman. I turned to MGTOW two years ago when a ten year relationship collapsed over night due to her cheating on me. Spent those two years in almost monk mode, reading here and many other sources to understand why the types of women I had grown up expecting to find simply don't exist, and why, time after time, I ended up in shitty one sided relationships. That's fine, as a tall guy you'll be able to flat foot any bike, so that isnt a worry, and at 230 lbs you should be able to lift any 600 no trouble. I'm currently riding a 650cc ducati and its light as a feather. Unlike a car there are very few things on a bike you can adjust for position, so make sure you find something you fit comfortable on.

I'm same height, and weight about 210 lbs. The reason you start on a small bike, 250cc to 500cc, is because it takes a while to learn to predict, and then stop making, certian mistakes. Anyone can ride a big bike, anyone can ride a small bike. However, when you make a mistake, the power, and more important, weight of the bike is going to determine what happens next. You pull up to a turn, have to hit the brakes cause someone comes out of nowhere, the bike stalls, and you grab the brakes. Because…

I judge everyone, all the time. Now, I will usually keep that judgement to myself. It does however very much impact how I treat people and how much time and effort I give them. This goes equally for men and women. I have friends who have life styles I don't fully agree with, and I'll just make a point to avoid those situations. Just because someone goes out getting wasted and chasing women on Friday doesn't mean I don't enjoy riding a motorcycle with them on Saturday.

Maintain your military bearing when you enter the civilian workplace and you will be WAY ahead of the curve. Always act like there is a high ranking female staff officer in the room. Another benefit, when you walk into a room, practice mentally assigning rank to people, you will have a real leg up evaluating office hierarchy and understanding your position in it.

If I meet a woman who shares my views, enjoys the types of hobbies and entertainment I do, and is sexually compatible, I'll spend time with her. I will never marry, I will never live with someone, and I will never share access to my finances. It simply isn't possible for the laws causing me to make these decisions to change in my lifetime.

To some, I've been Chad, to others, a resource or future / past husband. Fact is, I'm not looking for notches in my bedpost, I've always been looking for a partner. At times, I thought I'd found one, but it always ended in some tragic way, not only ruining the relationship, but often whole groups of friends, and my career. One night stands don't interest me, casual relationships don't either. This time around I'm staying single, and building my career. Maybe I'll learn to enjoy casual sex, I don…

My ex used to pressure me for marriage a lot. She had it in her head I was going to buy her a $10k ring. I suppose it worked out for the best, her irrational desire for a piece of jewelry that costs more than a decent used motorcycle or a once in lifetime vacation is one of the primary reasons I didn't marry her. Eventually she cheated on me and I left, so, bullet dodged.

I posted this in another thread, travelling alone on a motorcycle is a totally different experience. Last year I did an 1800 mile trip around Lake Michigan solo, and it was the best long distance trip I've ever done. I have been planning more solo trips, and it is so refreshing not to have to negotiate for the things I want to see, or for how m…

The key tennent of GYOW very much seems to be "Do what you want, just leave me be". There are few places I feel comfortable being blunt about what I think, and even less where I admit being an atheist. Work in the AV industry. Simple answer is there is such a thing as too large a screen. Sit where you plan to have the TV, hold your phone in a comfy viewing distance, and that is the right relative size. So measure to where you want the TV. If its 8 feet, go stand 8 feet from a 65" TV, hold your phone up, and they should appear the same size. Cheap easy way of picking screen size. Now, OLED is just awesome tech, you want that for image quality.

Thought this was always the case. Went through Air Force basic back in '96 and had removable steps and other aids for the female recruits. Of course, it was Air Force, so the whole "Confidance Course" was optional. To be fair though, Air Force had a minimum dead lift capability regardless of gender, if you couldn't load a bomb onto a plane what good are you? And once I was in tech school, I was a geek not a grunt, there was no bias towards the women.

When I look back on my life, there are a lot of amazing fond memories. I have had the chance to do things I hadn't even dreamed of as a kid. Very few of those memories have a girlfriend or wife prominently displayed. I'm not bitter, much, I have good memories of various relationships I've had with women. However, the real stand out moments in my life have always been something I achieved pretty much solo. I wanted someone I could share my life with. I wanted regular enjoyable guilt free sex. I w…

I suppose I could, never figured people would be interested. It stopped being painful in a "She did this to me/ us" when I realised I was happier single and better off without her. Sure, they are fantastic cars, but be honest, it will never compare to the bike, no matter what the bike is. You need to understand life isnt a zero sum game. Another person's success isnt taking anything from you. Focus on what you want, who you want to be, and that is that. Consumerism means people have to keep buying crap they dont need, and the best way to drive this is making you jealous of your neighbor. Unlike cars, bikes really can not be adjusted. Seats dont move, handle bars have very little range of position, etc. You have to find something that fits your size, riding style, budget, etc. This whole "That's a girls bike" is just more of the same posturing crap we became MGTOW to get away from. Looked into getting one a few years ago. They are beautiful smart animals, but you want one that's at minimum 3rd or 4th generation domestic. Until they've been bred with domestic cats for a few generations they are more like raccoons then cats. The thing that finally made me decide against it, all my cats have been outdoor pets, and savanna cats are often mistaken for wild animals and captured or shot.

Here she is on a cross country trip Goal is to buy a new one for my birthday, and one thing I'm starting to convince myself, it's going to be a single seater. Riding is a very serious thing. Of course it's fun and freedom and the open road, but it is inherently dangerous, and a bad passenger is a terrifying thing. As with many men, my pool of friends has shrunk over the years. I will say the ones I keep around I would consider winners, though many not in a traditional sense. People so often fail to realise the consequences of admitting to being an atheist, even in today's society. Many people fake religious belief, or added religious elements to their work to appeal to the masses. To make claims about the beliefs held by people who lived under religious monarchy is just crazy. It's been around a long time. After the military, I was all psyched to go to school, figuring banging out gen ed and some tech classes at a community college would be a breeze after the training I had in the Air Force. I fully expected this kind of thing in an English or social studies oriented class, hell, even in a biology class. I was not prepared for entire chemistry and math classes to devolve into social / gender debates. After a week I knew it wasn't the place for me and instead went on t…

I was too young at the time, and honestly my memory of 5th grade is pretty fuzzy anyway, to tell you what medications where being suggested, I just know that I never took any. There where however plenty of kids on various things at that school, and over the years it has become almost the default solution. Many years later, to address sleep issues I was having, I was briefly put on first paxil, then a few weeks later, they switched it to welbutrin. Both of these had severe, though very different,…

Was in special ed back in the late 80s, when all of this was starting. My father fought tooth and nail to keep me off any of those drugs, compromising instead by sending me to an off site behaviour disorder school. Yeah, I was a pain in the ass kid, but some proper discipline, and eventually the military, cured me of those tendencies without any drug intervention. Can't imagine how my life would be different had they made me a zombie.

Couldn't agree more. Love dogs, but my lifestyle doesn't allow for them. The cat, she's just fine if I'm out of town a week.

Systems integration programmer. Write code and create user interfaces for audio / video conference systems. Only real effect MGTOW has had is that I can take far fewer projects to sustain my new life style, so I have a ton more time for my hobbies, and don't feel so stressed and burned out anymore. Currently studying for my Cisco cert, which I never had time for before.

Sorry for the negative attitude, wanted to be sure you were serious. Fuck it, I'm going to teach a guy to kickflip over the internet. You are going to need a couple things. 1: a long board. This is going to teach you the basics of riding a skateboard versus a snowboard, and they are infinately less likely to zing out and cause a very similar fall to catching a downhill edge on a snowboard. Don't get one of the goofy looking super long ones, you want one shaped like a traditional skateboard, only…

I'm 42, been skating 32 years, and worked as a skateboard instructor for about 6 years. Skating is an ass kicking, no two ways about it. If you want to ride short board, popsicle as the kids call it, you are going to break bones, and injure joints, I'm sorry. Kickflips are no joke, sure it's a basic trick in video games, but it can take years to learn, and you will get wrecked in the process. Having said all that, if you have a background in sports, awesome. Gymnastics, football, anything where …

Got carded the other day, I'm 42 years old. Girl did quite the double take and said "Wow, I thought you were much younger". Have some pretty self destructive and unhealthy habits, hell, i was being carded for cigarettes, but I balance it with a decent low calorie diet and a passion for sports. On the other hand, the amount of physical damage I've taken from skateboarding, snowboarding, and motorcycles means I have to put a lot of effort into physical therapy and yoga.

I don't have a lot of friends in general, but a good percentage of the ones I have are women. I spend most of my time alone, but some hobbies I enjoy more shared with others. One woman I am close with enjoys the same kinds of video games, is a CEO in a similar industry so we get to talk shop, has a similar taste in books and often recommends and lends one I like. Another I ride motorcycles with because she lives near by and can keep up with me. A third was a downhill skateboarder turned snowboar…

If you are going to ride day to day with bags, get hard bags. I only carry gear on long trips so I strap shit to the rear seat, ain't no one riding bitch with me :). Soft bags, even leather ones, get beat up in a year or two

Really loved the V Rod, but the Triumph is both more powerful and comfortable. The Chief is a blast if you are looking for a bagger. Did you try the Dark horse? That's the one I rode.

I have a very wide range in tastes in bikes, and my current goal is a stable of 4 minimum. The only kind of bike I don't ride are sport bikes, too many shoulder injuries means I can't have my weight on the bars for more than 30 minutes. I'm sure I'd love track day on one, but anything more than a short trip around town I can't do.

No, I have plenty of women friends, including some of my longest, closest, and most trusted. A few I even tried dating at one time or another, and we simply agreed it didn't work. This sub has certainly opened my eyes to the abuse and manipulation I've put up with over the years, and I'm done putting any effort at all into attracting or another relationship. That does not in any way diminish the great women I have or have had in my life in a non sexual way. In fact, one woman I met through a dat…

After many bad relationships, cheating, theft, physical abuse, etc, I met my unicorn. We worked together, played together, and lived together for 10 years. She was just what I was looking for. Then, about a year and a half ago, on my birthday, I was calling her on my way home to see what the plans where. She took that chance to tell me that we are in an open relationship and she has a date tonight. She spun it all to make it my fault. Moved out, quit the job, and tried filling the hole in my lif…

Don't tell people you are 5'11, say your 6 minus 1. My sister is 6', and she always felt unconsciense about her height, tells people she's 5 foot 12. Or just always give people your height in centimeters

Hard to learn, easy to master. Been riding since 89, and an instructor since 92, so I tend to give my opinion on this a bit of weight. Day one is brutal, there really is no helping that. Even if you are / were a skateboarder or surfer, many of your natural instincts are going to be wrong, and need to be retrained. It takes, on average, 3 times out for people to go from moving five to ten feet and falling, over and over, to getting down a bunny hill with some control and stopping with confidence.…

That's where I'm at. 6'2, athletic, good shape for my age, have a great career that I love, etc. Figured I'd do well on the dating sites. Nope, of the two women I actually met one was a complete misrepresentation, the other turned into a wonderful friendship and potential business partner. Did a lot of asking around about men's vs women's experience on dating sites, and realized the cards are just too stacked against me. A below average woman can make an account, and just sit back while her in b…

Spent last night at my favorite local ski hill so I could wake up and ride about the only powder day Wisconsin has ever had. Had a great time riding with a bunch of other snowboarders and drinking. Just got home, sore as hell, hanging out with my cat and watching a movie.

This is maybe the single hardest thing I'm coming to terms with. The instinct to pay for dinner, drinks, etc, even if the woman only a friend of mine. Yet, I rarely if ever pay for my male friends unless they specifically ask or I make a point to offer before hand. Now that I've been single for a time, and mostly lurking on this sub for a couple months, it amazes me just how many ways I've been programmed to put women first or give special treatment, often at a cost to myself.

Year and a half ago now, it was my birthday. Called my girlfriend of 10 years to see what the plan for the evening was. She chose that time to tell me we're in an open relationship and that she had a date that night. So I moved out, got a nice quite house in the country, just me and the cat. Quit my job a few months later, we worked together at a small company and id just had enough. If you are in the US, look up the BRC, basic rider course. It was $20, lasted three days, and not only is it an excellent training program, if you pass you get your license without having to take DMV test.

As a newly single man in his 40's with no kids, over weight single moms seem to be the only ones on the dating sites. Done with the dating sites, done chasing after women. I think it's time to hole up and be a hermit for a while.

Newly single, haven't been on a date in 20 years, and this is exactly what I've been forcing myself to do. Moved to a new town, and every place I go, I make small talk with someone. I sit at the counter at the local breakfast place, chatting with staff and customers. Only been a couple weeks, but already I don't feel so closed off from people. Trying out monk mode, so its not chasing tail yet, but I'm amazed how open people are when you just smile and chat. When I don't act like an introverted c…

Newly single after a 10+ year relationship came to a screeching halt. Been reading RP for a couple years, but of course "It could never happen to me.". Well, it did, and things like this is why I'm scared to join the dating scene again. Think I'll monk it till I get a vasectomy.

As someone without children, I couldn't be happier. As someone with a shit relationship with my father from the age of 14 till about 21 (after boot camp), I have to say, wait it out. When I was a kid, my mother used to insist all the time how much I would appreciate my father when I got older. As an adult, he is one of my favorite people, we talk on the phone a couple times a week, and I see him at least once a month.

Just because someone is female makes them unworthy of friendship outside of sex? Wow, I am a big fan of TRP, but this is really off putting. I have many wonderful female friends, many of whom I had physical relationships with in the past, and maintained contact with. Why? simply because the are interesting people I enjoying spending time with.
