Parents are the legal guardians of their children and can and do act as the decision makers for them. How parents rear their children is largely dependent on their world view. Since medical procedure and lifestyle choices are made by these parents yes religious rights is key to this conversation especially in regards to circumscision and Judaism. Aslo do you suggest that we should not vaccinate people under the age of 18 since they cannot legally represent their own future Interests?

I think it should be an opt in practice and I would suggest people opt in only when medically acceptable. If you are a religious person and your religion conflicts with that and there is a consistant and theologically sound arguement for that then I support peoples right to choose how they rear their own children and am weary of a government that would violate those terms.…

20,000 out of 2 million seems like a reasonable amount to not outright ban or criminalize the practice imo once again it should be up to parents and doctors. If we want to wage a culture conflict and educate and encourage families to consider doing this later in life I think that's great but these numbers still point out part of the reason the practice became customary in Judaism in the first place. Also thanks for using sources it keeps us on track with facts and not just our sentiments.

Can you provide some sauce for your first claim? And I see your point but by extension of that logic that means I'm not allowed to raise my child with the intellectual concepts that I am encouraged to in christianity. I also cant choose a form of dieting for.my young ones because they may later in life fell repulsed by meat? But religious/intellectual freedom is just as core to liberty as bodily autonomy. So both must be protected. And since there are some medical purposes for circumcision it should be legal at the discretion of parents and then doctors.

That's a good question. And Fgm hasn't stopped it just went black market. Also there are no complications to an individuals health in any case I'm aware of to cause fgm where as sometimes circumcision (partial or full) can be an appropriate medical treatment

I personally feel the same way but that wont stop people from doing what they believe God is commanding them to do. Then what we jail the babies parents and put it in a foster care system? And because there is no health reason I'm aware of that fgm would be necessary. Where as there are a notable amount of issues recognizable at birth that may require circumcision partial or full at birth. Which is partially why it's part of the Jewish faith in the first place.
