If I was in your shoes I would take ownership of it make fun of yourself and pretend it's something you do, write a letter to your friend make him post a picture of it online, write ones to your lady friends get post it funny picture with both of yous. Take a photo with your surrounded by girls with letters then post it to that girl thanking her for making you famous.
