Pretty much. This video was probably the first thing that made me accept that using the term is not an attack on masculinity or men. Toxic femininity can be defined the same way, though is less discussed, and imo should really be the theme of this subreddit

All I said was that the terms used in the original post had meanings that none of the people in the text of the post seemed to understand, and that made people angry. K.

I was pointing towards the definition of toxic masculinity further down page. I didn't realise that would need to be stated explicitly.

I was pointing you towards the definition of toxic masculinity given further down page, sorry I didn't spell that out explicitly.

Not really a matter for disagreement, that's the way the term is used in sociology, see here, for instance.. Sure there are other slightly different uses, but I am unaware of where your definition is coming from?

Unfortunately just everyone in the post is wrong. Toxic masculinity is a social system, which, in particular encourages toxic behaviours in men. The analogous social system 'toxic femininity' clearly also exists, and encompasses the ideas that are pointed out in the post. It is still technically a different social system, worthy of separate discussion.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
