In the SF Bay Area, apartment rent has been averaged at about $3000-$3500 a month, and a recent report said you need to make an average of $80-something an hour wage to really make do. edit to add: tried to do a quick search for any article that talked about the last bit and was unable to find any at the moment. Even with a full contractual agreement written and signed by all absolving the guy of responsibility, the courts claimed it was invalid because it wasn't done by a certain person or in a certain location or a done a certain way.
