I'm in a really weird spot that manages to simultaneously piss off both sides of this discussion. My opinion is informed by my experience as a police explorer as a kid - i did at least 50 ride alongs - and just being a living breathing human being. I think 99.9% of people law enforcement sees on a daily basis are probably having one of their worst days, or commonly bad days - either way, tension already built in. They also have to deal with everyone motherfucking them who they actually have a re…

lol. you chose to apply your story and assume intent. I even qualified that the stereotypes are rooted in bias - what I find interesting is you automatically read that as attacking law enforcement - which I was not doing. even setting that aside, I certainly wasn't trying to pick a fight either. go outside.

Regardless of your politics and whatever side of the blue line you are on, nobody wins when confrontations are escalated and / or stereotypes (which may be rooted in bias) are reinforced. edit: I walked down the middle as best I could - the comment about bias wasn't specific to law enforcement - I can't stand frat bros either.

I went to the same station she did when I was 16 and my buddys mom was there before we were. we were all out in 3 hours flat regardless, though. They don't want to keep kids locked up if they don't have to.

This was in my town. I am not a guy who sides with the police ever on these - my overriding thought is they are paid to de-escalate pure & simple. That said - this kid was a moron and I just think they were both out of other options. The call was justified, as well.
