Sorry, when I said, "Same source as yours", I meant what I was quoting below. My only source was my own experiences decades ago in the industry and language in general. For example, in the Spanish language, there is masculine and feminine spellings, but when plural it uses masculine unless strictly all feminine.

Same source as yours, although I wonder how recent it is now becoming gender neutral. And after reading this, maybe the "-ess" should be removed from all gender based words.
