I'm going to agree with this. Don't allow her to think this is acceptable behaviour. If you let her know it is by your actions, it will give her incentive to do it again, and again.

My father grew up in up in a weathly family who were harsh to him and his brother when they were growing up. Up until I was 16 my dad wasn't always there for me since he worked a ton, but still did typical dad things with me. He later became an alcoholic and lost everything he owned, including distancing himself from a family that loved him. He died last year from liver failure. Up until he became an alcoholic he was a hard working man. I'm aiming to learn from his mistakes by being better fathe…

Don't you need to need to make the person you're recording aware of the fact you're recording them? I could be wrong on this, but I remember hearing if the other party isn't made aware of the recording happening then it cant be used as evidence

Validation in this sense could be attention. Remember, it's going to be one of the four things I mentioned. If it's attention he's seeking, then the topic of the fight isn't what's reinforcing. It's the conversation itself. So there's ways you can reinforce the proper behaviours. Example, you ignore him when he engages in the wrong behaviour and engage when he doesn't. Or you remove yourself. Think of it this way, you have to make him decide on a subconscious level that his behaviour is wrong. T…

As a behavioural therapist. All behaviour boils down to four different categories of reinforcement. 1)attention 2)escape 3) access to something 4) automatic. If you figure out what happens before the behaviour and what reinforcement he gets after the behaviour (consequence) you can pinpoint which one of those behaviours he is going for.

Hey I'm a behavioural therapist. I work with kids/adults with low functioning autism. If you PM me I can go over some points that will help you understand them a little more

Moving on and learning from your mistakes is the best thing you can do. Know your worth as a person, not just as a man when it comes to abuse. It's no joke, and should never be taken lightly regardless who does it to who. You know now what to do, dont worry about her and remember for the future what to do. No matter how scary it is.

I highly doubt she will realise it. As stated above you proved she could get away with it. Therefore the behaviour will happen again. I'm a behavioural therapist, I see this happen all the time.

As someone who works in the mental health field. The "mental stress" you're going through isn't normal if things were okay between you two

Being from Ontario, not 100% sure. When I was curious about what direction to go in I would just go talk to someone at the college/university. Sometimes they would even give me advice for other schools programs. When I'm in doubt of something. I just ask a million questions to everyone I possibly can. And if they can't help me, I ask them who can.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
