She can’t move the kids away unless you agree (don’t agree!). Court should award you half custody. Hopefully you can arrange an amicable arrangement, but importantly, don’t give up your children. This too shall pass. Avoid booze, and work out/walk as you are able. Get sunlight. Breathe. You’ll get through it.

There are ups and downs. This sounds like a down time. Things will get better— see if you can get a dog or play with your parents pet. Walk outside and get some sun. Workout if you are able (even walks around the block). Get antidepressants if you need them (recommend cymbalta or Wellbutrin, for a lift). Try to do 2 new things each week. Eventually something will stick. It’s hard— but you’ve got this.

It sounds to me like she may have met someone else at work and is blaming you so the focus isn’t on her. Bug upswings when meds are added can make people get kind of revved up. I would ask her (or even investigate a bit to see if you turn anything up). Good luck to you. Tough situation.

100%. She should be mildly bitching to her friends about it but not choking back tears… seems off.

Personally, I think you should disclose the divorce early (building it up by waiting only gives it more power/makes it a bigger bomb). That said — her reaction is all red flags for me. She’s an adult, no one died — she’s actually testing you (probably unconsciously). At this point if you want her to move past it, apologize once, then stop contacting her for awhile and she will absolutely come back. Keep in mind that women need a moment to give up their fairytale marriage dreams… But honestly, if…

Crazy high. Find a different mediator, but also be prepared to go to court a few times if “reasonable” isn’t in your stbx’s vocabulary.

You just tell her you can’t move forward with the relationship. You have done all you can and need a change. You can NOT control her responses — that is your wife’s role. You just let your wife know you are through with working on the relationship and now need the two of you to work toward divorce. That’s it. Your wife may be fragile, but you can’t let that keep you from what you know you need. Edited typos.

These comments are your sign. Your son needs you now more than ever. Don’t abandon him this way. You are operating on a lot of assumptions — make sure you have all the facts before doing something so drastic and permanent and devastating for your son. He’s innocent here. You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
