When I was single I’d just treat them like normal human beings, nothing special, and just was myself, and that seemed to work.

She wanted to be praised for the few things she did do, but had no perspective on the value of things I did - finances (we were in an insanely good spot), home maintenance I got the "YOU DON'T DO ANYTHING" thing thrown in my face. I was working part time (she demanded I scale back from fulltime), I did every single financial everything, insurance for cars, health insurance, took care of the cars, rent, maintenance, walked the dog 75% of the time, did 90% of the cooking, did all the dishes, sweep…

Lol I did the "emotional labor" in the relationship...AKA being told to suck it up on every. single. thing. because it was what she needed to be in a place to accomplished our (supposedly but not actually) mutually-shared goal of having kids. So, to recap, what it meant was I had to deal with non-stop disappointment to kowtow to her needs, do the "emotional labor" of getting over it for "our greater good," only to, ultimately, be stabbed in the back.

I insisted on prenups due to seeing other people get screwed. She agreed, dragged out the process, ran up lawyers fees, tried to do the whole song and dance about how we'll never need it, screwed me over repeatedly during the actual marriage, but walked away with less than a rounding error in my finances during the divorce. I could have bought a car for the amount spent on legal fees for the prenup due to her dicking around (and blaming it on her lawyer), but it was the best money I ever spent. …

Why are you supporting someone when what they are doing is, as you say in your own words, "obviously wrong?" I don't speak for every husband who was cheated on, but I know who did what to support my ex's adultery, and those people aren't getting off scot free from their actions, however benign they think they were.

I started to tell people about him and she went psycho on me. Telling me that I’m airing out our dirty laundry and that she’s telling people how great I am and how great of a father I am and hopes I respect her enough to do the same. Well, I’m Not the one who had the affair. All she wants is to save face and not look like a cheater. Right out of the playbook. When asked how we were going to explain the divorce, I just said the truth - after supporting her through everything, she had an affair, a…

I go with: "I found the limit to the number of STD tests I was willing to do while being a loving, supportive, and faithful spouse in a supposedly monogamous relationship. Fortunately, despite what turned out to be repeated exposure, MY tests came back clean." The usual response was: "Damn, sorry man, was she was cheating with X?" And my response to that was: "That was the first one I was able to confirm."

I am so far ahead financially post-divorce it's almost funny. I checked my bank account and there was a LOT more money in it than I thought, so I went back over my finances, and 75% of the money out was her. What is completely ridiculous is the 25% I spent on myself included the housing, cars, food, insurance, and taxes. I'm thinking that maybe she was siphoning off money for her family, which I caught her doing in small amounts from time to time, but now I'm thinking it may have been 10x what I…

Also filed, ex wife was hot (not so much anymore, the last two years were not kind), and while she was the one to walk out after a string of infidelity, I'm the one who pulled the trigger after being completely fed up with her bullshit.

It depends. If it was done well in advance of divorce being inevitable, I've seen it work. If it is a last ditch thing where someone is already out...well it did help me drag things out a bit so I could gather more evidence with her none the wiser in an at-fault state.

I’ll jump in here: my now ex wife hurt me, by doing the exact same shit you did. But to advance the conversation, she did it for the thrill, the taboo, the whole getting-one-over on me high, but mostly because she could, mainly because she doesn’t have a solid foundation for her values system. I’m using her as an example because those are traits I’ve seen in everyone who cheated on their spouse. If you truly want to help yourself, you need to come up with a strict moral code that you hold yourse…

My prenup saved the gains I made while married because we both agreed in the prenup that certain assets that matured while we were married were not considered marital property. I was also extremely diligent to never comingle assets. My ex walked away with basically nothing, but if we hadn't had the prenup she would've walked away with seven figures.

Look man, this sucks majorly, but there’s a silver lining there: cheaters and people like this get, basically, high off of this kind of shit and get sloppy about agreeing to things they otherwise wouldn’t. It hurts emotionally, but it helps your bottom line.

Re-order it immediately. You never know when the other party is going to go full unhinged and try to frame you for something once they realize they aren't going to get everything they want. She could hurt herself, file a restraining order, put you on blast to the community, whatever at any time. Recording everything saved me, because after a whirlwind of throwing every accusation under the sun except for physical violence, I caught her off-handedly admitting that she was making everything up for…

Divorce to me is not having to get an STD test every time a family member needs my help and I have to be gone for a week to help them. Divorce to me is not having to calmly explain that “the alcohol made me cheat on you” is bullshit, followed by getting yelled at that while taking care of my sick relatives for three days (THREE DAYS) was me “not paying me enough attention and I need attention so my cheating is really your fault.” Divorce to me is not having to live with “what’s mine is mine and …

We did a prenup in a state that had at fault and no fault. It was relatively simple. I never commingled my big assets. Before getting married, I was upfront that if there was a divorce, I’d rather burn everything to the ground and start over than hand over a single cent. Caught her cheating. She could’ve gone after one major asset acquired post marriage, but I told her if she didn’t walk away from it, I’d happily do an at-fault trial, and gave a preview of my witness list along with the heads up…

Depends on the jurisdiction, but in some at-fault states if you “forgive” her you can’t go back and continue an at-fault. Chances are, she knows she’s screwed, so she’s going to lead you on for a month or two and then file when she has the advantage. Also, she’s an adulterous cheat, be done, they pretty much always do it again.

I watched people get raked over the coals growing up, so I insisted on a prenup, including her having an attorney and it being drawn up well before the wedding. I told people I dated this was a boundary while we were dating before becoming serious, and ended things with those who wouldn’t agree before taking it further. She spent my money freely during the marriage, but I adhered to what was laid out in the agreement (no commingling assets) and she didn’t get shit from the divorce.

Oh, it took me all of a tenth of a second to realize she was trying to bait me into snapping, physically or otherwise. She as much as admitted to it three months later, which was pretty stupid on her part because I was recording the conversation. It still bothers me from time to time that I genuinely thought she was a lot smarter than she was. One of the things I like most about myself is that I never, EVER lose control when I'm angry or scared. When it comes to anger, things said or done can't …

She was telling me we were “going to start trying for kids any day now.” Being a dad is what I wanted most in life, and I had blinders on trying to get to that goal. She was milking that hard. “Since I’m about to get pregnant I want to have one last girls weekend trip to [somewhere expensive].” Done. “I’m not gonna be able to do the work happy hours when I’m pregnant so I’m going to go to every one for the next month.” She changed industries so I thought she was making all those new social conne…

She told me I smelled. All the time. Demanded I take showers every time I got near her. I wound up taking seven showers a day. Finally I would just rinse off every time I knew I was going to be near her. She would still tell me I smelled, and when I told her I already showered, she would criticize me by saying I was obviously too incompetent to shower correctly. Same with brushing my teeth, I was brushing like five times a day. My dentist told me I was wearing through my enamel and needed to sto…

Here is how I've changed and why I think I'm becoming a better man: While I still listen to words, I judge whether they match actions. I do not allow people in my life whose words do not match their actions. I now enforce boundaries. People don't necessarily like it in the moment, but it A. sets clear expectations for how I treat people and expect to be treated, leading to better relationships (or the loss of those that aren't meant to be) and B. helps with my self respect. People with self resp…

Oh yes. She wanted to be married within a year of us becoming a couple, I said a minimum of three, we wound up at the altar at two. One of her smear campaigns was that I had rushed her to the altar when she didn't even necessarily want to get married, but, fortunately, folks remembered how it actually went down.

The only reason women offer up easy no-contest divorces is because they don't want you digging. But, if they think digging on you will benefit them they never offer an easy no-contest divorce. Yep. In my case she's trying to claim she was "more than fair," but the truth is I told her my witness and discovery request lists in an at-fault state. It would have been ugly ugly for her.

Mid 30s, usually a suit jacket (tailored) over a slim-fit button-down (no tie), nice dark jeans, dress shoes, smart watch with a silver band (matches the glasses - also I usually have a pair of sunglasses on me). That said, I absolutely 100% have worn a full suit on first dates if they are happy hours immediately after work. I look GOOD in them, and it definitely makes a statement. Had good results getting second dates wearing them.

Not at all. All of it was well within the confines of boundaries we had previously discussed as acceptable and consenting. We had a well established safe word by that point. Frankly it was one of the best days of my life, I still haven’t broken the record set that day.

I mean if you want a very explicit example, my at the time girlfriend woke me up on my birthday by whispering in my ear that we were going to break my record for the number of times I got off in a single day. That’s when I realized that in my deep sleep she had handcuffed and tied me to the bed, and she spent the next three hours removing every drop of moisture in my body. That was my first experience being the 100% getting fucked but definitely not the one doing the fucking. That night we switc…

People don't really think things through. I was in this situation, my wife was fucking around with other people, we're getting divorced, but she and the people who got involved in the divorce think they're in the free and clear. What she never seemed to understand, and clearly didn't communicate to her little posse of shitheads, is that I am an incredibly patient person with means, and I am just waiting for the agreement to be signed. Once that's done, I'm dropping the packages I, my PIs, and di…

Still? I don't generally ask out people with whom I have an established friendship. I did date a woman for a couple months and she ended things, but she beat me to the punch on that because I was going to end it too, but we agreed that we both had a lot of fun, so I proposed remaining friends. Neither of us caught romantic feelings and it was pretty clear we weren't physically compatible. Now we play tennis regularly and I consider that a win because it's way easier for me to find a date/hookup …

I talk to women when I run into them walking my dog first thing in the morning. I go to work and talk to them at work. I talk to the cute women who work in my building when we're on the elevator. I go out for my morning coffee and talk to them while in line. I talk to the staff of the coffee place (I tip well, be exceedingly pleasant, and never give them shit when they mess up, we're all on a first-name basis). I chat with women on my way to lunch. I think its cool and kinda hot. Last time I hit on a police officer it turns out she wasn't straight, but we remained friendly for the next couple of years til I moved. Been out on dates with a couple federal agents. Only problem I foresee is that if the relationship doesn't end well I don't want an entire police force up my ass, so I probably would only date someone from another jurisdiction.

My buddies caught him before I even knew what was going on. They knew her, knew he was her boyfriend but didn’t like him. He swung at them, they leveled him and literally tossed him out of the apartment. Funny part was she was the second girl I’d made out with that night.

Some guy was being a giant condescending piece of shit to me specifically. A couple hours later I chatted up a girl and she asked me if I’m kind, I said “most of the time,” and we started making out. Found out it was the dude’s girlfriend a few minutes later when he came looking for her, he got walloped in the ensuing fight. Found out the next day they had moved in together recently.

No. It’s my fault for not setting boundaries, standing up for myself, and enforcing consequences for unacceptable behavior. But despite every opportunity in the world to fuck other people I wasn’t the one who cheated. I could not have possibly given her more love, attention, and encouragement, except during the two month period my parents had a stroke and had a freak accident requiring multiple emergency surgeries, and yet not giving her all my attention during that time - again, two months - is…

Who spends time in three different states at the properties and never rents (especially during peak seasons)? Also, I don’t disclose it all upfront, but I also just don’t do anything in the way of deception. I live in a small enough city that reputation is important, and I’ve spent well over a decade cultivating a reputation as being as honest as they come, which is a rare thing in my industry. She could pay me $250,000 to keep it amicable. I may consider as low as $100,000. That would be me recouping most of what I paid for her education before she walked out and had an affair. Oh you mean what would I pay her? Fucking nothing, she can’t afford the kind of fight I can.

I’m not saying I owned her. Look up “asset” sometime, the dictionary definition is: a useful or valuable thing, person, or quality.

I invested in my soon to be ex - education, support, comfort. For a time she was an asset - happiness, support, comfort - and then when she got everything she wanted that money could buy she walked out. Now she’s a liability.
