I have no idea as to why women develop symptoms later, epidemiological gender-based comparisons, it affects men disproportionately. So your guess is as good as mine, until I research otherwise myself as well.

For females, late 20s sounds about right for the onset of schizophrenia. I'm sure she had prodromal symptoms leading up to the diagnosis and the divorce. No doubt that the fiscal and post-marital instability exacerbated symptoms at-hand.

To be fair, the onset of schizophrenia for females usually develop later in life than males.
