frustration, yes. but not at my parter. at the OP. my husband is not my ATM and i don't want to divorce him for lack of money.

because i have never and would never expect my SO to be my ATM. i was raised by a mother who was consistently financially dependent on men and it made for a terrifying childhood when she was out of control or we lived with a scary boyfriend. i will never be at a point where i need financial stability from another person. male or female. ever. my original post wasn't me whining that he doesn't make enough money. it was that i don't feel appreciated for my contribution when i work all day, take ca…

my income covers it. he isn't a buffoon. he's just depressed and i'm exhausted and am not able to give him the professional help that he needs. if he were happy at home i would be happy for him to not work, but having a job i think gives him routine and gets him out of the house. just more motivated in general. i've had good suggestions in the other thread. maybe if i can get him to volunteer or something, just anything with a schedule, he will perk up.

yes, but i really don't mind him not working, as i've stated. what bothers me is that he gets frustrated with my need to budget. or that i work 9-6 and also take care of the house without help. i feel like marriage is a partnership, and right now i don't feel like we are partners. i feel like his caretaker.

... its been pretty constant ... i don't feel both parties in my relationship are putting in equal amounts of work, i've tried a lot of things and i'm tired. we've talked about it relentlessly but i'm not seeing progress. i don't want to leave but i don't want to be stuck in a situation that's a cycle of depression. i labeled my post as a "vent" because i was just wanting to babble out some sadness and it provoked some great conversation, some of which has already seemed to help.

you keep saying that. god forbid a woman vent because she's tired of putting in more effort than her man. you've certainly taught me a valuable lesson today. great work.

actually i never said that he applied for jobs. i said he was offered them. he's had offers come in because he's in a niche field. he chooses not to take them.

we've been having these issues over a year. just like anything else, added stressors exacerbate any symptoms. us going down to one income is a stressor.

if you read my post you will see that he's not applying for jobs. he's not searching. the job is not my main issue. its the apathy. i have no clue why you're so passionate about this. i was venting in a support forum, not looking to attack my husband.

if the genders were reversed would it still seem that way?

i don't even want a stepford house husband. just to be appreciated for my efforts and see some effort reciprocated. ;\

I was the bread winner before he lost his job, but good try. Also, we fuck multiple times a week. I was venting because I'm not sexual satisfied with the sex we are having.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
