It's really not bad. I'm a pretty liberal woman(everyone I know IRL would agree with this) and I commented in both feminism and trp to just ask questions and learn with no agenda. Great discourse in trp, got banned in feminism. If you took the pronouns out of the discussions, I think people would be pretty damn surprised.

I wasn't big into FPH, but I was really active in Fat Logic. Since they are private out of fear of getting banned, I realized even with this drama going on, my interest in Reddit could really be on the decline for the first time in 4 years. Was this what happened to Digg?

I'm in the boat that you can make a joke about everything if it's funny, including cancer. It has to be EVERYTHING though, not except for boobs.

I got banned from r/feminism for criticism the Hollaback movement. I suggested, literally in question form, that it could be cultural. I mean, I'm partially Hispanic and I come off as a lot more aggressive/overwhelming to many white people I know because I'm so animated. It doesn't seem unreasonable to put this out there. It was just a question not an assertion. But of course, no it has to be men in every single country all over, even if evidence doesn't support that.

i'm embarrassed to say that I didn't even know the word "misandry" until today, that's why I looked it up at all. TIL

My dad was very emotionally abusive and manipulative, but he wasn't physical. I just thought it didn't count. Fortunately, my dad took off and he wasn't arrested or anything. I was also banned from r/feminism even thought I'm a bisexual liberal Mexican loud-mouthed woman, who believes strongly in equal rights and I definitely consider myself a feminist. I think it was because I have posted in r/theredpill, because I like learning about people especially who are different than me. Feminism is abo…

I honestly don't understand the question. I gave the example of how this was something I shouldn't have done, but because of my experience, I made a bad decision based on my sexual biases. I don't know if it helps to clarify that this event occurred 16 years ago when I was 15 years old. As far as any internalized sexism, I'm simply observing that at the time it had not even occurred to me that this was wrong. My point is that it was absolutely misandry but not conscious. I had an image of what d…

I just googled the word and this was the definition of internalized misandry I got from Wikipedia: Internalized misandry, then, is the act of identifying as a man and discriminating against oneself and one's masculinity. How is that not relevant? I'm not being facetious or rhetorical. Edit: I can concede that misandry was involved at the time , but I don't see how it would be internalized misandry.

I am now. He wasn't the best growing up because they were both young, but even over the past year I realized my mom definitely made things that were her fault look like they were his.

Anecdotal here, but my mom used to hit my dad all the time. She would actually punch him, but at the time I didn't see it as wrong and I'm a girl. One time he started to push back to defend himself and my mom told me to call the police on him and I did. I didn't realize how much I regret it until just now.

I was just living my life assuming I was a feminist, because I want equality for the genders. I would hear critiques of feminism and I would think that they were absurd and hyperbolized. I was wrong. This all or nothing strategy just seems unproductive. How does making others feel isolated and defensive seem a good idea?

White liberals don't see race, Exactly, they won't acknowledge race, but are still having reactions to racial differences. But it's okay to talk about men, so they can say this is a "male" problem. It's disingenuous, makes males defensive, doesn't actually identify the cause, and therefore it's an emotional argument and completely lacks objective rationality. That's always a good way to get your 'opponent' to change their mind, right?

There isn't even such thing as Cat calling in our culture I wish the feminist leaders and SJWs would look for exceptions like this. They could then acknowledge that street harassment is specific to culture and also occurs in densely populated areas where women will pass a remarkably larger population on a daily basis and subsequently have higher chances of running into some weirdos.

My ultimate interest would be for people who catcall to just go "hmmm. I didn't know it bothered girls that bad, when I tell them they look beautiful". That's never going to happen when you start accusing men of advocating rape or trying to display their power over women. Automatically people are going to defend their character, instead of listening to the message. I wonder what would happen if the message presented as just "hey, it's not actually that polite, guys. No big deal or hard feelings.…

These hyperbolic statements are doing nothing for women's rights. I ultimately think that street harassment can be a problem, especially when I'm stuck on the bus or at a bus stop and tell the person no, but they keep going. These people think by "sticking to their guns" and saying that none of this is okay, they're making a point. What they are doing is refusing to acknowledge the reality that some comments by strangers are not as bad as others and they are using blanket definitions so they can…

My SO also doesn't have tattoos and I do. Sometimes I think about pushing him to get tattoos, and then I realize I would be really turned off if he did it just for me and not because he wanted them.

Ultimately, your man and you should be happy. If you went to a more traditional feminine route that you feel is expected of us, you might not feel as attractive and be unhappy and self-conscious, which isn't attractive. I have visible tattoos, sometimes have shorter or weirder hairstyles, and I still find help from RPW.

I just heard about that argument!!! The guy who made it is Rob Bliss a narcissist from Grand Rapids, MI where I lived for 8 years. His background isn't in civil rights, but wasteful spectacles such as turning a street on a hill into a waterslide. GR is an extremely white place and this guy probably didn't realize that his racism was showing. He was also criticized for not having black people in a lip dub he organized in 2010.

The thing is I support the ultimate goal, because I have had to deal with some very unwelcome graphic harassment after I've said I wasn't interested. But I can't support the way this is being handled and it's so frustrating to watch. I have to try to remember to say 'Not all men" because it's implied due to feminazis saying "Most men think this way". I don't think that way so it doesn't even occur to me to have to put that disclaimer.

It's also funny because I'm good friend with my ex-husband and he can't believe how much I've changed. I have Anxiety and Bipolar and I was raised by very dramatic people who love sensationalism. He is like "SO name has so much less crazy to deal with than I did", because I'm a lot happier and calmer. I explained that my SO does not have any tolerance for completely irrational behaviors and so even though, I get very emotional and irrational at times, I have learned to manage it. Having someone …

I don't get the argument about the panhandling, because even though it's awful, I don't think it cancels out another person's problem. I think there's a middle ground here. If I'm walking and a man says something to me, I usually respond with "Thanks" or "Have a good day" and it ends at that. There are more uncomfortable situations that would include being on the bus or stuck at a bus stop, where you simply can't escape and these can be very, very uncomfortable. I don't see the harm in letting t…

I'm so irritated that Hollaback site's mission statement specifically states that the harassment is not a problem of"men of color", but the video they post wouldn't represent that whatsoever. This is absolutely veiled racism. If they want to talk about racial differences, go for it, but don't show one thing and say another. It's completely unproductive by denying the reality of something.

Very nice, and the thing is that maybe she'll talk to her friends about what she cooked for dinner and spread a positive message of health and improved relationship.

You know, before I met my current boyfriend it didn't even occur to me not to circumcise a male baby. It's not like if I'd had one it would have been a conscious choice weighing the options. It took almost no convincing for me to realize that it's pretty fucked up, but I wouldn't have thought twice about it if it wasn't brought to my attention as anything but a "fringe alternative"! I think the internet is doing a great job at shaking the status quo and making people re-evaluate the quality of h…

Yep. I used to love going out for steak, but it's not worth it anymore now that I know how to cook it really well (medium rare, of course). For less half the cost of going to a restaurant, my food is wayyy better.

I don't think you're entirely wrong, but the thing is that the culture of the South Americans just naturally has women cooking. (Girl here) My mom didn't teach me to cook, because she didn't know how to cook very well. Everything was burned and there was never seasoning of any kind. She didn't have home economics and neither did I, and we both wish that we had. Her mom lived in the time (50s/60s) where a "recipe" involved combining several cans of soup or vegetables as quickly as possible, throw…

I wonder why her complaint wasn't that her hot girl friends get treated the same as every other man and woman in the club. As a woman, I'm embarrassed for her. She was by no way mistreated. The other women got special attention, and she might have an argument if she wanted to say that her friends shouldn't have been treated differently because they were attractive.

Wow. I'm a girl and I honestly can't believe that women agree to dates without any intentions of going out with him. It makes me understand a little more as to why the red pill exists. I have never and would never do anything like that, but maybe I am the minority..That's really sad, if so.

I don't regret how I spent years of my life. I don't define happiness by how long it lasts. It was a mutual split, extremely amicable, and we're still friends.

This is a great rule in general. When my ex-husband asked me out for the first time, my mom decided to surprise me and come visit that day. I told her I would have to go because I already had plans and she should have called. I'm not saying every girl should ditch her family for you, but in general they can move things around. If they don't, it's just a way for you to start out as not being a priority to someone.

Based on a tiny bit of info given here, I wonder if the OP is an ENTJ. They don't have a lot of time for niceties (lack of extroverted feeling - shared with INTJ), and are very alpha. It can be really tough for this type to come off as more "feminine". I'd say finding out her MBTI type and being more aware of her functions could be influencing her natural decisions. ENTJs seem to be drawn masculine culture i.e., moustaches and metal. I'm an ENFP, and using MBTI I'm learning to check my emotional…

I understand what you're trying to say about Hitchens Atheists and moral teachings, but Hitchens (who I much prefer) was no feminist.
