You want to make it the social norm? That's the worst idea ever. Why make the problem bigger than it already is? You don't cure cancer by spreading it and you don't fight fire with fire. we need for it to work is many small instances so it's part of everyday life I can't believe you want to make injustice a part of everyday life. Just understand that many people will see this as an overreaction and ridiculous view the people involved, being this subreddit, and what they stand for, being gender equality, in a negative way. That should be considered a bad thing, and that is the purpose of my post. I'm just saying that the content of this subreddit, just like its counterpart over at /r/Feminism, are held to a different standard and have to be tactful with there posts in order to not lose general public support.

I most definitely don't think I know best, my whole point is that it doesn't matter who or what determines what is or isn't important in men's rights. What are the priorities of this subreddit? Because I was under the impression it was the advocacy of gender equality. In the example I provided, there are two ways equality can be met: 1) The sender of the email is fired, as are men in a similar situation. No progress is made. 2) People realize that it's a joke, get on with their lives, and no one loses their jobs/gets sued. Progress is made.

Fine, I used a bad example. I just didn't want to bring up Gandhi because that's a cop out. There are plenty of examples of social change happening in the absence of violence, or aggression. If they were advocating firing the woman responsible in order to make an example of the hypocrisy of how society views the genders, but they weren't. They were being vindictive and vengeful, nothing more.

Exactly. I saw another post that included something about how men can't stop the mother of their child from having an abortion, implying that this is a bad thing. So we should be able to force a woman to go through the excruciating pain involved with childbirth which also permanently changes the woman's body? Should a women be able to prevent her husband from getting a vasectomy? Of course not. This subreddit needs to advocate gender equality, not propagate a war of the sexes.

Which is why I'm advocating that both jokes about men and jokes about women should be accepted. If we want any change, let's make it be in the right direction, not toward a society where you can't make fun of the genders. I don't want to live in that world.
