So many guys have pictures of themselves holding a fish on Tinder that it’s a a common topic for articles in womens’ magazines. And the general take by the overwhelming majority of women is exactly what the image shows. If fishing is really your thing and who you are, then hey king - you be yourself. But if you’re doing it because you think it attracts women, homie…no.

We are now at the amusing point of the conversation where the question becomes not, how incorrect are you, but how obsessive are you about having the last word. If there's one thing the right does reliably, it's last-post. So let's test it: no matter what you say from now on, I will reply with a random fruit and nothing else. Let's see how many fruit it takes for you to overcome that compunction.

Yeah, the whole “I’m so cool no YOU” approach may work for you in like 10th grade, but it’s not nearly as clever in real life as you seem to think. But don’t let me dent your continual self-congratulations at your inability to understand a pretty basic term. You definitely showed me. 🤙

So...what you're saying is, you, a male, would be happier if women would use terms that make YOU happier? Without irony? 👍

With respect, all this comment and this thread do is show a flawed understanding of the concept. “Believe all women” doesn’t mean “every accusation of sexual assault is 100% on a woman’s word alone”. In addition to being a violation of the presumption of innocence, it would just be stupid. “Believe all women” means “treat all accusations of sexual assault as credible and being made in good faith, and investigate them accordingly”. The accused still has a presumption of innocence, a right to coun…

If she behaves and expresses remorse, she’ll be out in 4-5, tops. Which isn’t getting off lightly. Prison sucks, but trying to get a job and support yourself after prison sucks harder. Not to mention things like trying to get a bank account, trying to find housing in a place you might remotely want to live, etc. We’re very hard on ex-cons as a society.

As a mod for two former default subs...they’re not supposed to. That being said, you do notice correlations, and at the end of the day each subreddit has its own rules and internal culture, that they are more or less free to enforce. Example: if you’re posting a comment in r/history that is low key Holocaust denial, I’m going to pull the comment. Then, I’m going to look at your comment history to see if it’s an honest mistake or deliberate misinformation, because we get both many times per day. …

Maybe, maybe not. That’s something for an immigration court to determine, not the President by fiat, the press, or random people on the internet. She has a non-trivial claim. If she wants to come back and press it at her expense, let her fly back and be heard. If the court determines she is a citizen, then arrest her and charge her with whatever if the evidence is there to do so. If she’s not a citizen, deport her. But do it by due process. Not because you think she deserves it, but because you …

As a dude who doesn’t follow either sub...they’re both pretty fucking cringey tbh. The ratio of common sense posts: whiner bullshit is incredibly high, and it all reads like a bunch of college freshmen slinging buzzwords at each other. Just one guy’s opinion.

On the one hand, shots fired. On the other hand...his methodology is wanting in a few respects. One sector in one city is not a representative sample, particularly not when that city is in an area that is known to be not terribly representative of the national labor market as a whole.

I believe you. But at a guess, Europe has larger local variances (do Basque men attempt at the same rate as Czech men, etc) and different causation. The results may look very similar, but that may mask diverse inputs.

It really varies by location, and is a product of a lot of factors, including economics, culture, gender norms, etc. In some places, men attempt suicide at ten times the rate of women; in others, vice versa. In the US, male suicide is higher because men use guns. Also, older males are mostly likely to have untreated PTSD-related disorders, to own guns, and to be socialized not to seek help. It’s a self-reinforcing problem.

She thinks she needs it, because that’s what the inherently violent patriarchy has taught her to believe. You’ll actually be doing her a favor by showing her the degree to which her thinking has unknowingly been assimilated. She’ll thank you one day.

Hell. I wish you WOULD wear dresses more than once. I like that one you got for the wedding last year, and remind me why we have to drop $250 on a one use item?

Either, really. If they want to flirt, you just start grinning and they'll start grinning back and thinking you're a fool and having fun with them. If they want to fight, you stay deadpan as anything, and they'll have no idea what to do with you - we're just not socialized to knock the block off of someone who is sitting there not saying or doing anything threatening. It throws things off script.

Standard response in that situation: "oh, ok". Then don't move, and sort of look past them. About five seconds will go by. Then they get a bit indignant: "is something wrong with you? I said you're in my seat!" "And I said ok" "Then move!" "What?" "Move!" "Oh, ok." Never actually say anything else. Don't deny it, don't argue. It's amazing how long you can keep it up. The people who don't want to escalate will drop it and leave, and the people who do are looking for you to make the first move.

A search for 'actor' turns up Lena Headley 15 images in. A search for 'actress' turns up some dude I've never seen before 104 images in. The biggest surprise is just how much 'actress' is dominated by Bollywood stars, while 'actor' is not. Huh.
