It’s only fulfilling if you had a hole to fill in to begin with. No pun intended. Otherwise it often is a waste of time. Those ‘relationships’ rarely produce good results even in their only stated goal, as good sex requires ‘practice’, as in getting to know someone, and first encounters rarely tend to reach maximum chemistry that two people can achieve. As a source of self affirmation, it has its place during teenage years and early adolescence - afterwards, ideally, one should move on from any …

Eh, I don’t think I signaled anything but preference, I think you of all people should be more accepting of that. But in all seriousness, in a hypothetical, that kind of trauma wouldn’t be something I’d put much value in embracing or avoiding. I’m sure there are other kinds of traumas I might get picky about, but I never gave it much thought. Mostly because some kind of baggage is virtually unavoidable - this specific one just happens to be one that I don’t care about. If I found out that my fri…

I mean, preferences are like the proverbial ass. You kinda can’t judge people for having them, but they might influence your opinion of the person. For example, I totally understand that someone enjoys ketchup with their meat, and they are fully within their rights to do so, but it’s not preventing me from thinking less of them. So to address your example, yeah, somebody is at liberty to prefer a partner without prior abuse-related trauma - it’s their life and their choice of a partner after all…

I assure you it’s not that complicated - it was simply pointing out that OP’s way of thinking on the matter is completely divorced from real life. I explained in enough detail why would this discussion never happen in reality, at least in the format they proposed. So if you read the premise of scenario 2 (being with someone you trust), you’ll realize that your questions also don’t make much sense. The assumptions about my motives for “arguing with everyone” on a debate sub are a bit too funny th…

There is nothing natural about OPs scenario and suggestion, to the point that I’m wondering if people supporting it have any regular or meaningful interraction with others. What works for abortion talk (which I agree with is a good thing to do) doesn’t work here because the former is based around the fact that mutual trust exists. If a guy has such a low level of trust in his partner that he knows in advance he will want to have paternity test, then it’s hard to imagine he would actually be with…

Again, this is not very logical. Without even delving deeper into ethical stuff, the issue that I take with it is that situations and solutions you propose are not organic, they simply won’t happen in real life. I’ll try to explain why - very roughly speaking, you can have two situations: 1) You believe that (prospective) babymamma is a cheating whore. Easy. You never have this talk because there is no opportunity or need for it. How so? Because the two of you are not together and are not having…

The entire argument falls apart quite spectacularly when you account for all the unplanned pregnancies that happen all the time, where there is no “grace period” that OP is suggesting as the ethical option; moreover, if a man is unsure of prospects of his paternity before even conceiving a child, I find it extremely unlikely that he will pursue that goal with that woman, making this entire scenario kinda obsolete and nonsensical. The further reasoning in the comments is even weirder - why would …

You seem to be operating under misconception that finding physical qualities attractive is the same as “objectification”. I struggle to see how did you make this jump but it’s quite a distance. Objectification implies reducing the entirety of someone’s being to purely utilitiarian value - the utility being sex in this context - and that can easily happen without any attraction taking place. The “object” part of the noun does not relate to the material quality of the body or its features, it rela…

I agree. It is completely legitimate to refuse relationship on that basis, due to variety of factors - some of them completely irrational - but disgust is the point where you have to ask yourself about your views and motivations.

I agree that procreation without trust is a personal failure, but then again, a lot of procreating is neither planned nor a matter of intimate decision of two people; so the proscriptive ethical approach is a bit beyond the point when we’re dealing with means to cover less-than-favorable situations that could yield a range of complications. Unwanted pregnancy could also be a consequence of personal failure to employ contraception, for example, but it would be unsound to deny a means of correctin…

Possibly, yeah, avoiding fallout could be one of the reasons for it. Still, it is not accountability that is being avoided - you are neither morally nor legally obliged to trust anyone - so it cannot be reasonably compared with wanting to avoid responsibility for your child in its totality. I doubt it’s the primary motivation though. It’s certainly not much to ask from the government when the default state of affairs is to just assume paternity on the basis that the couple is married, or to take…

Let’s not conflate mandated paternity tests on one hand and financial abortion on the other. Only one of these signals the desire to renounce accountability, and it’s the latter. The former comes from the desire to establish certainty when it comes to paternity, which I think has much deeper aspects than just financial ones.

Well, yeah if somebody gives you their card and tells you to spend some money on shopping, it seems ok to me. But then again, I’m not sure why would you be so eager to infantilize yourself.

Nah. Orgasm is a shared responsibility at best, and it’s compounded on communication. If you had multiple partners and none have been able to make you cum, maybe it’s not their problem. I sincerely doubt that you stopped to look inwards at any point of this thought process. In any case, nobody is responsible for your orgasm more than you, nor obliged to fulfill it. It is certainly a sign of a skillful and caring lover, but the opposite does not equal exploitation. That’s just a laughable thing t…

I agree, there is an inherent hypocrisy in the way most of us approach promiscuity. I would also argue that our idea of promiscuity is rather lacking and bound to be imprecise to begin with. (How does one come up with the quantifiable boundary? What each number represents? Etc) However, my initial differentiation rests on the way in which still we tend to regard sex workers as somehow excluded from (most) of the judgment that goes along with promiscuity. For this reason, I do think that most guy…

Hard pass. Pregnancy is an unbalanced burden to begin with, this would make it even more so. We have to realize the magnitude of this advantage of not having to bear a living being around and not being the primary person responsible for it regardless of outcome. Or to put it into simpler terms, the worst outcome for us is having to pay a monthly tax on stupid decisions, the worst outcome for her is a roulette of death due to complications, loss of fertility, unwanted children and single parentho…

Well at this point I have to say that I find our differences in opinion too different to yield any significant change in our discussion. The principles that you put forth are based on experience that I, simply put, do not share - on the contrary, I see a steady decline of evolutionary determinism in many aspects of life, including women. Sure, some of these strings remain strong in majority of a given population, but not to an extent that you portrayed, at least not in the sum of everything I ha…

You made some interesting points, but I can’t really ascertain just how exactly anecdotal they are. I don’t think the comparison with serial killer and bodygouard is either honest or consistent with the principle I initially suggested. Having that said, I will address some of the more prominent lines of your post. Firstly, what would you consider “copious male involvement”? Or to be precise, just where would you draw the line, and draw it in a way that you’re confident that it’s not just a an ar…

I always wondered how you people come up with a specific number. Can you shed some light into this? In my view, promiscuity as defined by the number of past sexual partners is now based mostly in a deep rooted insecurity that rests in the “eye of the beholder”, since actual material risks have been dramatically reduced by technological advances made since the second half of the last century. Since determining paternity is no longer out of our reach, if anything it’s a readily available option in…

I agree, the rhetoric is one sided, that’s why argue for a positive solidarity, instead of a reactionary one. And I agree that 2XC and fds are exactly the types that need to be “educated” as well. Not only because they are being toxic, but because they are diminishing credibility of legitimate interests that we both share, at least in theory, which is establishing equality. The issue I have is that nobody is holding them accountable in a constructive manner. The vast majority of groups that clai…

For sure, it is a manner of manipulation. Nobody here shies away from recognizing that. But the beauty (or horror) of every game is that players choose to play it, and how to play it. Just as some women are able to portray their fragility as a reward and bait insecure men into romanticizing them and investing themselves to the point of subservience, some men are able to use and abuse those very women with fragile egos to the point of subservience. I don’t think that love discriminates in its vic…

I am glad we separated this into numbers, it will make things easier. As I said, it is a preference, just like I have preference for fit women, she might have a preference for a larger member. I don’t allow to be judged on what I find attractive, so why would she? I understand the concern here, but I would also find a bit out of the ordinary if a girl was older than 21 and a virgin. It definitely is not a rEd FlAg as they say, but having the averages in mind it comes as extraordinary, in the mos…

Oh, come on. Penis size is an issue a bit more complex than that, with minimal participation from women, and if you desperately need a singular entity to blame for feeling that pressure, porn is a good place to start. Or to put it simply - a woman (or a man) is fully within their right to have a size preference. However, what porn does is persuading you that baton sized dongs are normal and necessary to pleasure your partner, and then later you infer that this is the expectation instead of manip…

Eradication of promiscuity as a concept will help both genders, and I support it wholeheartedly. Of course, this is not in context of cheating, but in a context of previous experiences. And I put forth another extremely radical idea - women who have a lot experience in bed... tend to be better in bed. Don’t trust me, check for yourself! I find it ridiculous that people actually have a specific number in mind - how do you calculate that? Why is, say, 19 ok but 20 bad? Seems awfully arbitrary, I m…

That’s not Madonna-whore complex. That’s just bad communication. There are two roads from here: You did X with a previous partner, but you didn’t like doing X. In that case, it’s on you to point out that this isn’t an issue of compatibility or attraction, it’s just that you don’t enjoy X and wouldn’t do it again. Your partner should be mature enough to accept that. You did X with a previous partner, but you don’t like doing X with the current partner - which means that you two aren’t fully compa…

Despising people because they are wealthy and successful is literally the lowest layer you can dip yourself in. This is beyond pathetic, it denies any dignity one might have had before indulging in Robinhoodesque. Imagine thriving on seeing others suffer and denying them humanity because they are not part of formless mass of slithering failures like yourself. Fighting fire with fire - racism with racism and sexism with sexism, because it’s the only language you understand, there is no other plan…

I understand the question of professional ethics, I just don’t see this being directly relevant to the purpose of this sub. In other words, I fail to see how gender plays a role here, and I would claim the same were the roles reversed.

My statements weren’t meant to defend, really, so that conclussion is not very precise. The point was more leaning toward porn objectifying all of its participants. That’s hardly a defense, eh? And how about my questions? You seem to believe that this sub is devoting itself to unimportant social issues?

Have you seen some porn though? There are men in there too. Sometimes, there are only men in there, sometimes only women. Porn can be shitty, and it’s not really a healthy way to discover sexuality, though. I am more worried about your apparent lack of compassion. Let me get this straight - do you suggest that women getting misrepresented and hurt is more important than men being misrepresented and hurt? I suppose it’s fair to speak about anyone’s plight, and recognize everyone’s suffering. Am I…

Well, it is in a sense. If you postulate that a whole gender of people have a natural tendency towards violence and should always make a conscious effort to keep their nature in check, it is a rather malicious message. Like, if you have trouble understanding why this ad has a very negative undertone try to imagine a slightly different scenario - say, there is a new ad about contraceptive pills that implies that women specifically should hold themselves to a higher standard and fight promiscuity.…

Politization of this kind is unnecessary even though in this case it’s actually sonething positive. Let’s see if somebody will try to deconstruct this as apologetic to toxic behaviors once it becomes more viral.
