What's the source of the IQ thing? Can't find anything. Not doubting, just curious.

Thanks I made a comment but forgot to add a study. I'll add it, it's always good to back up a statement with evidence.

Yeah, I've noticed that to. I had one female friend with autism. She perfectly understood my lack of eye contact and other stuff. Super easy to understand and be friends with.

I get what you mean, I have had similar experiences with my Asperger's. I don't think I had it as bad as you. I at least had one awesome friend, who I'm still friends with. There is a lot of progress to be made with how people treat those who are on the spectrum. One thing I do want to say is I feel like you're undermining women's experience of being on the spectrum. Due to being diagnosed less often an later in life, it can lead to issues with being disconnected from themselves and sometimes be…

The whole "women aren't therapists" thing always bothers me. It's not only men who use people as therapists. Certainly there are people who do this, and it's unfair. But I really doubt it's a gendered thing. Always irritated by people who say it is.

By their logic, couldn't you get rid of the women's psychology? Doubt that's what they want.

In 2010, my bad, typo Yes it happened, and feminist women researched and helped spread awareness of it. They were doing their best to help inform the public. That is valuable help. You said "responsible", what do you mean?

Click on one of the researchers names, Yngvil Grodal. She has done research to help women and support women's rights. Specifically one on female immigrants and one on abused women and their experiences with the legal system. https://www.nkvts.no/english/project/expectations-to-and-experiences-with-the-legal-system-among-women-who-have-beeen-abused/ https://www.nkvts.no/english/project/violence-against-women-migrants-and-refugees-analysing-causes-and-effective-policy-response/ The other one, Wenc…

I think that's too much of a generalisation Some feminist people absolutely do try to help men. In Norway they opened domestic violence shelters for men in 2010(I think I remember the year correctly) Source: https://www.nkvts.no/english/project/intimate-violence-against-men/ Edit: For proof that they are feminists, click on one of the researchers names, Yngvil Grodal. She has done lots of research and some specifically to help women and support women's rights. Specifically one on female immigran…

The no true Scotsman thing is only if you say one version is the true version. I didn't, I tried to describe the different sides of feminism to answer the question. However, it is true that some feminist groups do that. Especially to avoid criticism, and that's not good to do. Also do all feminist groups have to believe in the patriarchy? And if so, do they have to agree on how said patriarchy works? And it is an exaggeration to call all feminism toxic or a blight on society. Some do bad stuff, …

I'll try to find it again It was 3-4 years ago in Norway in the papers, I'll try. But if you do see someone claim 90% of peadophiles are male, here are some stats(not sure if you already have this, but it's always good in an argument to use sources): https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/9588305/#:\~:text=The%20prevalence%20in%20women%20can,report%20the%20experience%20as%20positive](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/9588305/#:~:text=The%20prevalence%20in%20women%20can,report%20the%20experience%20as%20po…

Can't find the studies but I read some like that. Generally men/women like "X" or "y". I think I remember some studies gave varying responses but I can't remember. Also I always wondered if it's possible to differentiate between answers people want to give and answers people believe they should give. Will someone say or not day something if they think they should or shouldn't say it? Say a person says they want someone with a good job. Is it possible they don't care, but say it because it's mayb…

Yeah, there are guys who do use their gf as a therapist. That is bad and not a good relationship dynamic. There a women who also do it. Either way, I don't think it's a healthy relationship when someone does that. But I have to disagree that it's something very common. Most people don't do that. I also believe that at least a few of the people who say "men shouldn't expect a therapist gf" are exaggerating and/or hypocrites like you said.

Broad answer would be improve mental health care. But of course that kind of progress is slow. I personally have worked through those issues but what worked for me might not work for someone else. What I did do was continuously re-analyse my situation until I found some points of view that worked. Changed how I approached things, watched some videos and did some reading, found what I wanted to prioritize for myself. Still doing it now also. What that involves will be different for different peop…

Yes I know. What I said was it helps women. And I wanted the same help for men. Some other commenters gave good reasoning for why it should simply be replaced.

Fair point. Let's throw it out and replace it.

It helps spread knowledge on abuser tactics and helps victims be heard when policy changes are made. Including men in that will be good, which we have to change. Or just replace Duluth with something better.

What would you say are the most important issues to work on to better help make victims of domestic violence(DV)? Spreading accurate information about DV? Setting up and advertising shelters? Should we update or replace the Duluth model?

I agree with pretty much all of this. More discussions like this are needed. I just recently learned about Erin Pizzey. People learning about her could help with the issues brought up. As could sharing the research I have given and more like it, to try to get rid of inaccurate information.

I am curious of what people reading think about the Duluth model. Should we update it? Or change it entirely?

Sure, but will take a very, very long time. What I'm trying to look at is possibly a smaller, but still important issue that could be fixed faster.

Interesting point of view. I wouldn't say misdirection, but it's good to bring up. The education system can say things such as "not for you" to boys and men. This is an issue. The university of Oslo in Norway tried to reserve minimum 30% of students as boys for some subjects like psychology. They weren't able to. So many people aren't concerned with the boys/men. However, as far as I know that university will continue to try, but really more people need to do participate. I do think what I said …

There was some great stuff in there. Really good. But the only one saying female teachers punish boys more than make teachers was the daily mail. Do you have a better source? It does reference one study but I would prefer a link to that. Anyone reading this comment should click u/MelissaMitanti 's link. It's worth reading, even if the part about female teachers could be backed with more evidence.

I don't remember seeing anything about female teachers downgrading boys more than make teachers. So you have a source? Or did I miss something in my link? Not doubting, just curious.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates05/08/22 04:13 PM

Usually the bias is subconsciously done. The teachers don't realise their downgrading the boys. That's the theory as to one of the reasons for the bias. But great links, thanks. I can't read the first though. Once I'm done fully reading the(I skimmed and read the conclusions mostly) do you mind if I add them?
