Misogynistic is the hatred or dislike of women. I don't think that's the case. Maybe from a western liberal view, the way they were treated isn't so fair. You see, the bible and quran were written by men for men. Both religion are centered around male's perspective. Woman were defined by their relations with men, and were often the secondary character. There wasn't a 50 Shades of Grey moment in these religious texts (only Songs of Songs come close).

First of all, this is not an evidence but one plausible explanation. The hypothesis that men (in uncommitted relationships) would overestimate the no. of attractive women was supported, but not the other way round. If you attribute this to bad memory, then wouldn't men be affected by it just the same? edited: wording

From the other thread: I agree that this is a wtich hunt, but if we don't take the side of the accuser, what's the alternative? We risk letting actual rapists walk if we don't believe the accuser. That depends on the extent of care. I care if my neighbours didn't commit suicide in front of their house. Cos that will depreciate the value of estates around the area. But I don't care if a stranger half way around the world is cheating on his/her spouse. What I'm trying to say is it depends. On some level I care, on some I don't. I presume it's the same for most people.

Fair enough. I understand the look good feel good aspect. I'd like to say the intention behind it is a key determining factor too. Often when we talk about manipulation it involves a deliberate attempt to influence/control someone in a dishonest way. However, unintentional manipulation is possible too. Corrected. Take a look again. Nope I agree. Strictly speaking, it's still manipulation albeit minor. Real-life example here: a Chinese couple (both good-looking) married and had kids, but their child was unusually ugly. Turns out she had a plastic surgery prior to knowing him, and hid it from him. In the end he divorced and sued her. I acknowledge this is an extreme case though.

Not necessarily. But lack of sex is usually an indication of emotional issues or lack of intimacy. Both of which exacerbate frustration, resentment, and all sorts of negative feelings. Sex is not just sex; it's more than that.

It is said that human brain does not fully mature until at least the mid-20s (25 give or take). Most people wouldn't delay LTR/sex just because of this, neither should you. Don't break the law, ensure she's of legal age, avoid the crazies and you'll be fine. Regarding marriage (if you intend to), it's better to wait till you're 25 or older first.

It's hard to determine with the sample size (515 patients), plus iirc this is the only study of the phenomenon by far. You'll probably need thousands (or more) to gather meaningful data. I can only hypothesise why women are more likely to stay. Yeah I also find that they rationalise or 'hamster' their actions more often than not. So it could be like they somehow convince themselves that their actions were right, then proceed to give that explanations to others; thereby indirectly manipulating them. Just want to point out something. You're using the term 'hypergamy' wrongly; in the traditional sense, it refers to the act of marrying upwards (to someone wealthier or of a higher social status). In that sense, women in general are more hypergamous than men. Men generally don't care if the woman he's going to marry is richer or of a higher social status. Of course there are rare exceptions.
