I always say, "Correct!" with a huge smile like I'm proud of them.

It's not a tell if you learn it in hindsight! A tell is something you can see ahead of time. Look, here's my position: There aren't always tells. Here's yours: There are always tells. We both believe that the other person's position results in a worldview that is a "dangerous and naive way to live life". We're going to have to agree to disagree here. I think we both want people to have the best shot at navigating this complicated world.

I agree that it's important to educate yourself to the extent you can. But it is damaging to suggest that you can 100% gird yourself against psychopaths by looking for tells. I say this as someone who was a victim of one. I was not given the flat, emotionless stare until he dropped his mask, which was TEN YEARS after I met him. All those Dateline shows ... they would always say "he was a perfect gentleman, the last person you would think was capable of something like this" and I would think actu…

I think this is an excellent post, but I would say that not everyone who lies has a tell. Some people are just psycho.

Absolutely the best. I've seen the Kohl's cash / Crypto one before on Twitter. Did a girl post what he said or did he aggregate what she said into his list?

i feel like i'm playing friends defense and i'm not really ride or die about it, i just am noticing some things being said that aren't the complete picture. if those are the girls, what are the guys? joey's the ditz, chandler's the bitch, and ross is the whore. they each had their counterparts.

sitcoms got way more misogynistic after friends and will and grace and seinfeld went off the air. how i met your mother, big bang theory, two and a half men, modern family, two broke girls, etc... there were of course shows moving in the other direction, but i was surprised by the large crop of shows that seemed like backlash to the small amount of progress made in the 90's.

Alright, late 40's here. The way the guys are in that show? Pretty true to life at the time. But for the first time ever the 90's girls (then in their 20's) are talking back to them, being taken seriously by them, very often actually educating them. You have to understand how revolutionary this was. In the 80's, it was almost impossible to watch a popular film without seeing a girl get slapped - slapped! across the face! - for disagreeing with a guy or having boundaries. And then the 90's come a…

there were some sketchy moments on the mindy show, but never have i ever is an amazing show. i'm going to check out anything she does for the rest of her life based on the office and never have i ever. it will be interesting to see where this show goes given where it's apparently starting. fwiw, i read one of her books and she talked about how the studio execs told her she needed to not emasculate the male characters so much. she's very interesting to me because there are definitely boys will be…

what are your thoughts about life partners that are girls? i don't mean even in a lesbian way - like bff. if two girls believe it, what then? can you rely on your friend to always be there for you if you're both girls? or do you think the truth is that is a fantasy too? question, not a leading question. genuinely curious.

Yes. They are empty and unable to fulfill themselves in any way. They look for external stimulus from you and then when you fail to provide it (which will always happen eventually because everything new eventually gets old), they think you're the problem. They don't get that normal humans should be able to provide for themselves.

It's not the kind of women that would attract or be attracted to decent and respectable men. It's not the kind of women that have any respect for themselves, or who are good judges of character. I think the important part here is "or who are good judges of character". That describes some adults, but also a lot more young adults and teens and even god forbid children. It takes a while to wake up from this stuff if you're exposed at a young age and some never do.

There is an amazing lawyer named Carrie Goldberg who has pretty much dedicated the last decade of her life to fighting revenge porn and helping the victims of it. Search for her name on twitter and maybe DM or @ her. Start there. Edit: Actually it doesn't look like you can DM her, but she has a link in her bio to her site that has resources and contact info.

Yeah, at this point I'd rather pay whatever 50 dollar fine or fee for changing the locks than go to bed knowing the apartment is open to whoever else happens to have a key.

If memory serves, this same thing happened in the Chicago area sometime before 2010. I myself have had people who had a key (in my case a landlord) enter just for the hell of it. (He didn't know I was home and started going through my things.). It's high time all renters are at the very least entitled to a set of keys that no one else has access to.

Or even that you had a planned agenda, but once you mentioned sex, he would not move on and spent the whole session trying to mold you into someone who shared his sexual philosophies. So gross omg.

Two other important reasons men labeled women as witches and killed them: 1) Land. It was very unusual for women to have their own land, and if a woman came into some, it was often because there were no living male relations it could have gone to which meant no living male relations to protect her. Women were easy targets. Men wanted some land? They burned the woman who owned it as a witch. 2) Medicine. Before the advent of medicine as we know it, it was women who understood how to combine certa…

I was with someone who was able to fake all of these for years. The most devastating betrayal is to believe you are in a relationship with someone who is emotionally intelligent but who is harboring secret resentments that they never share until after they've taken off the mask. I've spent a lot of time trying to figure how I could have known that this consistently compassionate man was anything but underneath, and the closest I came was that it comes down to vulnerability. While he was a great …

"I just let a strange person objectify my body and did nothing about it..." You didn't let him do anything. This guy sounds like he was going to do what he wanted when he wanted regardless of whether or not you were giving him the green light. You know, like a rapist! Being polite to psychos is an absolutely reasonable self-defense strategy. When you WALKED AWAY and got on your PHONE it was a clear as day message and he ignored it. He even doubled down! You got yourself away safely and that is w…

Yeah, see, I wouldn't actually want to date someone who made twice as much as me or something because the chance that they would think it's because they're better than me is about 99%. Where is the (bitter)sweet spot?

because the pictures aren't really for women but for other guys. they're trying to impress an imaginary guy in their head who thinks they look tough and manly shot from beneath like citizen kane. they're showing off their muscles to guys. they're being a guy's guy by being in the bathroom and not taking any of it too seriously. these are guys that even when they're actively searching for women can't stop putting men first in their minds. reddity red flaggity flag.

All of culture encourages this behavior. You're socially conditioned to think this is fun and cool because it benefits guys to have girls gone wild everywhere they go. And it's girls, not women, because as you get older, you realize that it's a set-up. Some of the same men who cheer on these girls mock them when they leave the room. I wouldn't feel guilty for having participated in what society strongly encourages you to participate in. Enjoy that you had fun, when you did. And who cares what it…

the point of art is to express yourself. *your* self. this is who she is and that's why her art is like that. there's nothing wrong with it. this is how art is supposed to work! people get confused today ... she's making a statement that other people want to buy, not making a product tailor-made to every consumer. it's her thoughts / soul, not a new type of fast food. as for the harvey weinstein thing. tbh, i don't know what to make of the footage of him in the background at one of her shows. bu…

You're not doing anything wrong. There's very little any girl could do to turn a guy off of sex. There is probably a backstory that you don't know? Is he being open with you? Adult relationships are about getting past the point of "whatever that meant" and understanding what's really going on, but you can only work with what he's giving you. He should tell you what's going on. If he can't be intimate with you emotionally, ultimately it doesn't matter whether or not you're intimate physically.

You don't want a guy who thinks your profession is worthless. He ghosted you cause he's a loser and he could tell you weren't.
