Ironically, it might push men who were supportive or on the fence to the actively hostile side. I know this week there were two women in need of help in NYC and, while I normally would have stopped to try to assist, I kept walking. I didn't need the headache of someone thinking I was a predator stalking the weak and injured antelopes. For all I know it ended terribly for them...oh well.

You have misunderstood. My examples were not comparing men to those groups but pointing out that confronting evil with evil was not how things were changed. We stopped the Nazis not by killing all Germans, and we did not stop Apartheid by enslaving all whites. Likewise, we will not stop misogyny by hating or demonizing all men.

For the record, I am not against #YesAllWomen. In fact, I think the goal of eliminating misogyny is laudable. What I am against is the use of this hashtag and movement to connect the actions of atavistic criminals to men as a whole. Judging a person by the genitals is like judging someone by the color of their skin. All should be judged by the content of their character.

I saw a story about women buying positive pregnancy tests off CraigsList, so that must mean that men should view all women as potential scam artists who will trick them into marriage? Correlation does not imply causality...and just because some people are bad does not mean all people are bad. I am disappointed by the lack of critical thinking on the part of some people.

Another thought: Politically I am very liberal, and I believe that we should aspire to the goal that we should one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of our skin, but by the content of our character. But, when you change "color of your skin" to "contents if your undergarments" liberals around me started freaking out. anyone who would roofie someone is a predator. But exercising caution because one person out of hundreds is a monster is not the same as stereotyping a whole gender, something frequently done by #yesallwomen contributors. Using this logic, we should turn and run when a black person is walking toward us on the street or take the stairs if they are in the elevator because we see so many of them on the news doing bad things. I did not read the "watch your drink" thread but how does that apply? So if one bad person in a club filled with 200 men is evil enough to roofie your drink, that's adequate reason to go through life suspecting everyone from the guy in the line at Starbucks to the guy sitting in the pew behind you at church are out to rape and murder you? Poor expectations turn into reality. You tell someone enough times that they're no good or they're dangerous, soon they start believing it.
