To be fair at least she didn’t automatically take the girl’s side like my mom did.

I have heard on here that most gay guys drop the whole “hanging out with girls” thing over time, and end up hanging out mostly with other guys. I guess the whole “gay BFF” thing is mostly a thing from the movies.

Tribe up. Find other like-minded men. Make friends with them. Work out and shit. Engage in hobbies. Boom, you have a tribe. Also I’m sure a lot of Gen Z guys get what you’re saying.

Didn’t think it could get worse than in the US but I guess here we are. Well I’d certainly believe Australia is more gynocentric. Never been but it seems like a really feminist place.

For real. I've been on one of those men's mental health subs for like half a year, trying to support guys there, then I got banned because I dared support a poster who was talking about how hard it is to be a man. The guy was being brigaded by feminists calling him "privileged" and belittling his problems. On a men's mental health space. Which is why I created r/GuyCryFree. Post your stories there.

I feel you on the oligarchy, yeah. The dismissal of men's mental health is really insidious. Yeah men commit suicide at far higher rates yet our news media here in the US can never talk sympathetically about men's issues. It's always gotta be men or "patriarchy" are the problem, somehow, and the story always has to be about women at the end of the day. It's sickening. A guy could be on fire and still be called "privileged". Indeed gender roles for men have been too rigid as of late.

Someone else on this post pointed out that most MRA discourse covers intersexual, male-female matters, which is ofc less relevant to gay men. What sorts of MRA issues do you feel are most relevant to you as a gay man, or most relevant to men in general regardless of sexuality?

Why the hell would gay male groups be against standing up for men's rights?

Maybe try a Jiu-Jitsu class? It’s physical and you learn how to fight, but there’s no striking, just grappling. It’s a martial art that’s custom-tailored to teach you how to fight bigger guys, so you don’t have to be big or anything to do it (a lot of the black belts are smaller guys anyway). And if it’s a good group you might be able to get drinks with some of the guys afterwards. If that’s not so much your speed, maybe try a different sport in a rec league format (soccer, basketball, flag foot…

Yeah it's not a conservative-liberal thing; the Republicans in the US don't even really provide rhetorical support for men's issues. At the same time that family courts are separating men from their kids, the Republicans' signature "culture war" issue for the past like 7 years has been "keep trans women out of women's sports". A bully take, cheap shot, and completely irrelevant to men's rights if you ask me. I'm wondering if there's anything like a youth movement to change the state of things in…

Yeah I hope a space like that can become the go-to for guys seeking to vent. Like it's nice that folks are posting in GuyCry or other subs to vent; it just sucks to have whatever percentage of men unable to get the support they need because the mods are fastidiously policing the sub to make sure you fit into the "right" paradigm of masculinity (you don't have to be a numale or a "trad hulk"; it's not a dichotomy). We need to grow spaces like MensVenting that are more comprehensive.

Yeah Trudeau was pretty infamous lol. I was in college (y’all would say university I guess) when he became PM and a lot of people were talking about him. Meaning all the liberals liked him. Is it any different in Alberta or Saskatchewan? I’ve heard Alberta has more of the “cowboy” types (heard it described as the “Texas of Canada”) so idk if it’s different over there. I’m sure men’s rights are pretty abysmal in Texas too, but the more right-wing states are seeing some movement in the direction o…

The worst part of this is that society is controlled by a thousand institutions that will only advocate for women's point of view. So long as cucks and feminists control US/UK/Canada (?), institutionally speaking only women's points of view will matter. Only women's concerns will get published by the cuck media. Places like this sub are key for countering and challenging the narrative.

Is misandry also common among US Muslim women IRL? In the last few years I've lived in a couple of cities with substantial Muslim populations, lots of hijabis, etc. I don't have the insider perspective of the community though.

For real. As a guy who likes to read it's hard to find fiction I want to read at bookstores. 90% of the "fiction" section is either explicitly women-oriented or it's 100+ years old (classics). Not a lot of new authors putting out interesting stuff, unless you're into crime/thrillers, sci-fi, high fantasy, or romance.

If you watch old media from the Boomer generation and earlier you see quaint depictions of traditional gender roles. You know, those scenes where men in old cartoons would put their raincoats down on puddles so their woman could walk across the street unimpeded. That was “traditional” masculinity - man protects, woman nurtures. Man pays, woman cooks. Man does the heavy lifting, woman focuses on the kids. To oversimplify it a bit, feminists didn’t like the “woman has to cook” part, but most folks…

Very important issue. In the US I find that guys around my age (20s/30s) don't tend to prioritize social engagements. Part of this is due to capitalism - corporations squeezing every last drop out of us means people are working more hours for less pay, but simply put it's a hyperindividualistic culture and I wish folks would be more open to meeting new friends. I think the dark side of "stranger danger" is that our generation grew to be wary of strangers and of meeting new people. We gotta pione…

Is OF really THAT common among Gen Z women? Also, is there a way to verify whether or not the girl you're dating has an OnlyFans?

Possibly related but when I worked in retail - I would say bad customers, the ones who rage over small shit or treat you like a servant, were about 1 in 20 (which is still enough to make a big impact on your day). Out of all the "really bad" customers, the ones bad enough that I still remember them, the vast majority were women.

Yeah I don't think the Republican Party cares about promoting family values really. Case in point, at the same time that family courts have got men over a barrel the GOP's marquee cultural issue is "keep trans women out of women's sports". Like seriously, you could not pay me enough money to care about who the NCAA puts on its athlete rosters. That sort of thing should not be a political issue; focus on actual issues please.

Yes; this is one reason I got into King of the Hill. Because Hank Hill is a capable provider and father with a good head on his shoulders, and the show often portrays him as being “right” when there are family conflicts.

I'd recommend limiting exposure to online spaces like this, or wherever you're seeing women impose toxic expectations. People in this sub are aware of the problem with feminism, but reading about it too often doesn't help either. Would recommend building IRL men's spaces or focusing on sports/hobbies/social activities/etc. Need someone to talk to?

I used to work at a cafe in a yuppie area (lots of new apartment developments, very modern-looking area full of restaurants at bars). I'd work the register and notice that when there was a couple in the store, the woman would be the one to order 85-90% of the time. This isn't a direct answer to your question, but the info may be relevant.

I had a liberal coworker once who was also concerned about the masculinity crisis, also consider James May of the Top Gear trio - the most liberal of the three, but he also made that Man Lab show. I personally am neither a conservative nor a liberal.

Does "class action lawsuit" sound good to you? There must be some way of suing people who are so cruel to a person at risk of suicide. There must be some jurisdiction(s) where this sort of thing qualifies as harassment, assault, etc. Or you could sue the mods of these subs/Reddit itself for creating a "dangerous/hostile business environment". You might want to research these laws if you'd like to make a change to the system.
