Conventional wisdom is to not take it too often or for extended periods of time (as others have pointed out). But anecdotally, I've been taking it pretty much every night for 10+ years and it still helps me sleep like a baby. I've had no long term issues as far as I can tell, my sleep schedule is pretty on point. The strange dreams stop after a month or two. Also FYI, it's a godsend if you wanna snooze through a 10+ hour plane ride.

Sure, baby steps are important. If someone has a plan to get off video games over a period of time and knows that the end goal is total separation, then sure, do whatever you need to do to get there. My comment was more aimed at the video game apologists who wanna half-ass it and rationalize what they're doing.

It really depends on where you are in the "getting your shit together" process. It's probably overkill for someone who's already got a lot going on, but for someone who's trying to break out of the "lazy useless piece of shit" cycle for the first time it's best to cut these things out completely until your life is recalibrated on other more meaningful things. Otherwise it's easy to just fall right back into the cycle. It's all about shifting the center of focus.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
