When you bring up a topic of conversation that was discussed with positive emotions, similar positive emotions are brought about in both people. You have to keep up a consistent line of communication in between when you get their number and when you go out on the date. Also not sure I can help you as far as the date itself unless I saw how you handled yourself during the date. A tip I can give you however is something I like to call ego monitoring.
