You know how everyone gets upset when people say things like "that guy is super abusive and controlling, he's totally RP"? Well, isn't this the same thing in reverse? "Oh, she's inconsiderate and lazy. such a feminist." I agree with people saying that she's being a jerk, but if we don't want people automatically blaming RP for shitty qualities in men, then we can't automatically blame feminism for shitty qualities in women.

I think it's fine as long as it's discussed beforehand and agreed-upon. I personally toy with the idea all the time of keeping my last name (it's also related to the family business, so I'd like to continue that legacy). In fact, I might even ask a potential husband to take my name so our whole family can have the same name. I think issues only arise from this when people don't agree or they just pretend to agree and get upset later. And I'm not terribly concerned about what other people would t…

But doesn't that really say more about your family than the two of them? I get it would be something to talk about if they also had a lot of issues and were really unhappy or something, but if it works for them and they've been a successful couple a long time, it seems like a strange thing to gossip about for years and years.

Sorry for misunderstanding, I read a lot of this as "this is the way we think that women should be", not as "this is the way women need to be or they're wrong". I was just curious about all of this, but probably it's not for me then.

I found all this really interesting. Not necessarily sure I agree with a lot of it, but I enjoy being informed about different viewpoints. Some of it just generally made me uncomfortable, with the assumption that the way I feel is "wrong": I want an equal relationship (1) No, you really don’t. Shouldn't this also be about women respecting each others' opinions or feelings? Or at least agreeing that it's a belief and not a fact?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
