Hm. I would probably say something like, “I would tell her to not assume that they would do anything crazy, because being around a group of men on a dark empty road isn’t automatically a dangerous situation. What would make that a potentially dangerous situation were if the group were persistently harassing her, becoming aggressive, or were carrying weapons. Harassment, aggression, and being armed can be considered threats. Men by themselves aren’t.

You don’t actually have a proper reason to believe that someone could be dangerous unless they’re actively making threats or have already done something that endangers someone else.
