Covid 19 was a tool used to sway an election. I was reading an article that reviewed the opinions coming out of the left-leaning media in the months just prior to the virus becoming major news. It showed them despairing that Trump was going to sweep into a second term in office, given the overall performance of the economy, the lack of warfare during his term, the hold the Republicans had over the Senate, no strong opposing incumbent in the Dems field, etc. Move forward six months and the devast…

110% she's already done this to someone else, and they're no longer there. It might just be her MO for getting rid of people she doesn't like. I would get the hell out of there. You going to HR first might mitigate things, but you would be forever on the list of "when we need to cut staff to reduce costs". Imagine if this just blows up and they won't side with reality - not unlikely from what you can see in the press. You are now looking for a new job with a whisper campaign following you at the…

These DNA tests have been stirring up so much trouble, they apparently now train the phone support people to handle calls coming in that show someone doesn't have the parentage they thought they did. That's a lot of people that it needs in trained phone support to handle the inquiries.

I envisioned what life would be like if I don't succeed, and I refused to accept that was going to be my future. You have to accept that you must do hard work, and, a lot of it, to succeed the way you want to. Best of luck. You can do it. You can do more than you ever thought you were capable of.

which results in the same damn thing I disagree. One simmers in resentment because they are left fighting an inner turmoil between common sense, and the overriding "don't be like that!". The other sees that these past 20+ years have been a horror. It is the invisible hand of the Reddit Trust and Safety admins. Subreddits are getting more cautious about leaving anything out there that someone can exploit to their detriment in a complaint. The mod of a subreddit sees something that they think will be used maliciously, and err on the side of caution by removing it. Even more maliciously, someone salts in something that they then hope to capture and send as an "ah-ha!!" to the admins for more harm.

Comedy, like the sort he's been successfully creating for years, takes quite an intellect. He is a bright guy to see inside something and understand how to illustrate it with word-pictures such that we're surprised and find it funny. Until he made his point about "what's going on?" I realized I hadn't put much thought to what the actual acts were that Weinstien and Louis CK have been doing. A real WTF has twisted them up like that.

The whole "I'm a nice guy, why won't anyone see that?" is such a strawman argument though. Going through life wanting some quid pro quo isn't how to decide how to behave. Getting stuck on some female, and then thinking how to be attractive to them after that brings its just desserts. Ergo, go your own way. My good mates and I get along just fine. I treat women no better or worse as wellbecause they are a women. They may like it. They may not like it. Either way, that's of no concern to me. In fa…

The casting couch phenomena is as old as the hills. Old as Hollywood. There is nothing new about the current crop of accusations - simply that those who didn't get what they think they deserved (or despised themselves for doing it at some point) are now emboldened to speak up. 'Back in the day', the shame alone to say you did so was enough to keep it a rumour and nothing more. It was always there.

40,000 texts. Make you wonder when she had time for the sex itself to take place. I'm also wondering why the guy didn't have any of them kept, and offer up as defense. At the first 1000 it would occur to me that I might be into something I won't like where it is going to go. It wouldn't take all 40,000 to show that this wasn't the rape accusation that the authorities were willing to let it become.

I don't disagree. Coming from a background of having a father who was a professional, it was ingrained from birth to compete on the corporate ladder. Only later in life was it clear that being content with a life that was without stress and worry free was the real reward. The intensity of western life (urban really - not so much outside the big cities I am thinking) fools one into thinking it is the goal in life.

Dedication to competition. You aren't seriously going about competing in the business space if you aren't working yourself to death. That goes for Japan I am sure as it does for the US, or Canada (where I am). You speak of happiness. What is this thing you call 'happiness'?!

Simple operant conditioning: "a type of learning in which the strength of a behavior is modified by the behavior's consequences, such as reward or punishment." In other words he likely got plenty of 'yes' in the earliest stages of the relationship. Then, the reward is slightly withdrawn. The requests for sex start to increase to compensate. More sex is withdrawn. The requests now have to be multiple to get one reward. At the stage described in the spreadsheet, one to two weeks of requests are ne…

Math undergrad and then went into IT. Long ago enough that it was the route to that sector of the workforce at the time. Still love reading new developments as they make it into the mainstream news, but I'm not up on the math needed to really delve into it and understand all the nuances. You are right however - from math comes....everything. Some say the universe is simply a physical expression of timeless, universal, mathematical truths. I like that one especially.
