It can be. If a local council is having trouble with public drinking in a certain area they declare it an "alcohol free zone" for a couple of years. You often see it in the main streets of tourist towns where young people congregate to drink at night.

Under 18 in Australia, under 21 in America. It used to be 21 in Australia but when they were drafting 18 year old's for the Vietnam war there was a general feeling that if you're old enough to fight and die at 18 you are old enough to drink. By 1974 all states and territories had reduced the legal drinking age to 18.

I hope I'm not alone on this sub when I say that if I had a friend or even a work colleague I didn't like that I heard was driving themselves to their own wedding I wouldn't hesitate to volunteer to be their driver. I think something like 5 years would be reasonable. I think a lot of US sentences are over the top and melatonin doesn't pose much risk to a child. The main crime was leaving the children unattended but I'm not sure that her leaving the children unattended was a hell of a lot more serious than parents leaving their children in an unlicensed childcare center with a woman that looks like that.

They could be a Chinese spy but unless there is reason to believe so I don't think the CIA should be questioning them. The police should treat the people they deal with as law abiding citizens unless there is a compelling reason to do otherwise. They'd never do that in Australia, I just don't know how such a situation can occur in a democracy. If we tried something like that I've got no idea where they'd get people to be police prosecutors (fully qualified lawyers but also police officers), task force heads, commissioners etc. Thank God no police or judges in Australia are elected either - I can't see a more likely way to encourage and entrench corruption. In my state of Australia (NSW) the police receive university level qualifications as part of their training (Diploma in Policing). Although it is not a fully fledged degree the training they receive does give them a lot of credits which are recognized by our universities should they decide to get a degree to further their career.
