On a first date (and not being totally drunk) I would consider that one sizable kino escalation. I can see how it might work. Create a small argument about something stupid and then make a small bet. Creates excitement, demonstrates that you can hold your own opinion and shows confidence in asking a strangers opinion to resolve it.

Sounds familiar. I get the "cute" nonsense too. I'm 23. Don't let it throw you off your game. The trick is confidence and negs in my opinion. It also sounds like maybe your energy is low. Try altering your enthusiasm level to see if it has any impact. You also probably get told you "look young" too. Great read. I would love to live in your head for a day. The message that I took from the Fight Club self-help groups was that they were a very feminine way of dealing with our problems. I'm inclined to agree to an extent. I think that as men we are better at dealing with problems in other ways. Medication, physical exercise and self-reflection are potent ways to deal with any situation.
