Right. It’s clear as day the way you put it, thanks for this.

Right I see, I haven’t been very clear with the details, and the situation was a little more complicated. I actually asked for the open relationship (I know I know, I was definitely naive and now I know that wasn’t a good idea). He had suddenly lost his right to stay in the country and had to move back to his home country, and we realized it was going to be an indefinite LDR, so I wanted some companionship while we tried to figure things out. Esp because he is my first bf and I had no idea what …

Ahhh yeah that's really tough!! It's so difficult to forge meaningful relationships with people (friendships esp). Just being devil's advocate here... Why do you feel having a fulfilling relationship is the no. 1 thing you want in life, to the extent that it not having it trumps any other happiness you can get from hobbies/pursuits/career satisfaction etc? It's amazing that it's working out for you! I've been looking for a similar arrangement, but the thing I struggle with is I don't know how to tell before "caving in" whether or not a guy would be a decent lover. Most of the tests I normally put men through are to test for quality personality and everything else... so I don't really know how to test for physical before it happens - esp because hot guys can sometimes absolutely suck in bed. Any tips for that?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
