No one is saying do nothing, they are saying do the best with what you have got and work towards your personal goals. I do not see where anyone said any of what you seem to have seen.

No one is saying "just be yourself and the girls will fall in your lap." Pretty much everyone here is saying work on social skills, your appearence and your life generally. Of course less conventionally attractive people will have to work harder and damn sure will need something to offer.

Yes. I found that dealing with teasing banter effectively definitely helped manage regular feelings of anxiety in normal conversation. When I said 'stay home and read' I was reading books on a variety of subjects. I wasn't reading self-help or PUA manuals. I have a similar experience to yours. I was very shy as a teenager, I would avoid social interaction, preferring to stay home and read. I also had a cashier job which helped me slowly build confidence talking to people at all. Not even just people I found cute, I had no condfidence to even talk to potential friends.
