Had an ex who did this just to be a manipulative dick. I'm the independent type, however, so I'd go on & do my own thing, which really pissed him off every time. It was hysterical. Alleged adult seriously upset that another adult wasn't groveling. Smfh They're not the only reason for our breakup, but these instances of attempted manipulation were definitely a factor.

This is like those prospective employers who want 2 years of experience in X really, really specific area, a master's, and 5 non-family, non-friend references for an entry level position... Just. UNREASONABLE.

This. Used to be semi-involved with a lukewarm guy who "didn't know" what he wanted. Couldn't text all day, but he sure knew how to call & ask for a ride when he wanted to go to the bar.
