If he doesn’t want to see you then a therapist needs to determine why and whether it is your fault or not. Just out of curiosity, have you ever seen a therapist determining fault of individual family members like that?

The saddest part is how some people refuse to use the knowledge we have gained in dealing with behavioral issues over the past 100 years. Many bullies become bullies because they are neglected, abused, beaten etc. by their authority figures and take out their anger and vengeance on weaker objects (other children, animals etc.). So what is additional violence from adults going to reinforce in them?

No need to be angry or salty. I'm all for communication and feedback, I'm all against shaming, toxicity and micro-aggressions. "Hurting their precious little feelings" is a patronising and aggressive stance. That's not any feedback.

Woah, hold on. any sort of feedback directed towards someone as a result of their negative and harmful behaviour Earlier you wrote: I think we as a society should body a shame a little. Being morbidly obese is NOT ok IDK if you still hold your first opinion but if not, then just retract it openly, instead of trying to drift away. Body-shaming isn't feedback, and being obese isn't negative and harmful behavior.

In this last paragraph alone, you're directing abuse at people. Basically you're proposing that people become toxic to one another. they're a fragile snowflake and their feelings matter more than the truth. You know, if other people matter so little to you, why'd you even want to communicate with them? Have you asked yourself this question?

Anyway, I wonder what Reddit shows to women and feminists to get them angry and engaged? Well, it doesn't take much does it.
/r/MensRights10/04/26 08:33 PM

🤦‍♂️ YES you're right, man, I love that angle! How could I not have seen it. The dot coms have a vested interest in polarizing people or in fact just making people more angry in general because this boosts engagement, and all these people spend their time on the platforms arguing with each other. I'm facepalming rn because this seems so obvious. It's either non-stop antagonizing content or non-stop fluffy kittens.

Encouraged to be healthy ≠ shamed for being unhealthy. There's also the idea of autonomy. Do you advocate for doing the same to people who smoke, for example? To weed / alcohol / other substance users? I mean, policing people has to stop at some point, and we're adults responsible for our lives. Whether insurance should cover a lung transplant in a heavy smoker is a different question altogether.
/r/MensRights10/04/26 07:10 PM

It would. I assume there's many things that it'd be on a par with. Now it seems kinda fuzzy to me, and hard to put into words. Basically, complaining about your partner not having a driving license is a bit like "Hey, I don't like you're fat". Well, you can respectfully freak off, but you can't impose changing this on me. Like, what do you care about my driving? You know what I mean? BTW, FYI, I'm neither fat nor without a driving license myself.
/r/MensRights10/04/26 07:05 PM
0

I agree that’s sad, but it doesn’t justify blaming your parents for this. That's true but people often don't have the means to process and express their pain properly, so they cobble up nonsensical explanations and arguments, but there's still real emotional content behind them.
/r/MensRights10/04/26 06:58 PM

Nah, better leave fatshaming for the bedroom (or OF). EDIT: Oh, I read that last sentence as the opposite of what it says and had a transient mindfuck for a while. But anyway, this makes my reply a tongue-in-cheek one, so I'll leave it as is.
/r/MensRights10/04/26 02:20 AM

I mean complaining about not having a driving license is to me the same as complaining about a woman being fat, and somehow we as a society accept the former but don't accept the latter.

That's got nothing to do with invalidation. Generalizations such as "women X, men Y" paint a black and white picture, forming a base for all kinds of hostile ideologies, and ultimately only lead to frustration of the people who voice them.

men are especially prioritized over women, education wise a lot of girls in third world countries don't get access to education compared to their brothers Ever heard of cherry picking? women are always told to wait it out when the man does something like hit her Again, sorry for that having been your experience. You are linking an article on bias while I'm talking about systems. Do you see how they are not the same? You asked whether inequalities develop naturally. I linked an article that shows women treat muscular men worse due to evolutionary mechanisms. I linked it because imo it's obvious that inequalities are created on the basis of individual biases. An example if a bias is that police officer are more likely to stop a black person without just cause. An example of systematic injustice is that a …

Yeah, so depending on whether by "gender" you mean gender or sex, your argument either is a strawman argument, or it's untenable, but in both cases it doesn't make sense. If you mean "gender" as in "the social construction of what roles males and females should perform", then I don't know of any laws that treat people differently based on this. If you mean "sex", then the basis for that distinction is the rudimentary fact that women get pregnant and bear children, while men don't. It's not somet…

I am a man circumcised at birth and will get downvoted asf for this but idc. I am glad I am cut. Plenty of victims of violence will say the same story, that the violence wasn't actually violence, and they're glad they've been put through this. People who were beaten by parents, sold into a brothel etc. So many examples of this.

And men are not powerless legally - albeit they have a very difficult situation. I have been through family courts and helped others through it. It's a tough task and most don't have what it takes. I have been to the moon many times, albeit very briefly. There are certain adversities of life there, as they say. Some include gravity being less powerful than on Earth. Trust me however, while it's a tough ask and most do not have what it takes to work there, I'd repeat it any time.

That's very true. In France, for example, a man is legally forbidden from having a paternity test. Basically everywhere an abortion is legal and doesn't require the father's consent (so, unlike in Japan or Saudi Arabia), men are being stripped of reproductive rights.

Just an advice for future. ALWAYS communicate before/when having sex. Make sure you're both on the same page. Don't ASSUME things. An actually sound piece of advice would be: "if you are in a relationship where you have to assume anything, just get out".
/r/MensRights13/12/25 03:27 AM
-5

Reflect on why you assumed that going back to your place was code for sex. Why is it never: reflect on why the girl played dumb and hasn't made her expectations clear? Women are perfectly capable of communicating this, it's just that this one chose to keep the chaos around, so she could pull any card at any time at will.
/r/MensRights13/12/25 03:23 AM

This discussion is completely besides the point. It's bypassing the whole context of this enmeshed "relationship" where nothing was communicated and both parties were confused about their own desires.

Sorry but I can't agree with this: Enough of worrying and sympathizing for others when we are starving for empathy ourselves. Enough of being considerate and understanding towards those who hate you. Empathy and understanding only has the potential to work when there's plenty of it around. Removing it from the pool means you'll only be encountering more and more hostility towards yourself as time goes by. The more trash you leave around, the more trash you're living in. The rest can be summed up…

I tried to find this research but honestly I don't have time to peruse the whole website. I've found this: [1], [2], [3]. All the differences that I could trace were ca. 10 percentage points, for example: There is an even larger gender gap between unmarried men and women. Nearly four in 10 (39 percent) single unmarried women say they usually talk to a friend when facing a personal problem, compared to 30 percent of unmarried men. Again, unmarried men are significantly more likely than women are …

From a distance, looks like walls upon walls of AI text ('normal' people can't spell out two sentences without making at least one mistake, whereas here everything is just flowing and flowing and flowing endlessly in lowercase without any mistakes) but what do I know… Happy for you if you're happy. Overall, I agree. This one gave me food for thought though: there are more single men than women If we assume the populations of men and women to be equal, the only possible explanation for that disparity would be polygamy 🤔 (or a higher percentage of female homosexuals)

Exactly. IDK how that's supposed to be a space that listens to men and their struggles and has the capacity to spare them a thought. This girl seems to believe men's problems can be summed up as "feminism bad", lol.

It's also worth noting that the women's decenter men thing has a very anti-male and male-hate attitude and tone if you watch their tiktoks. That means they haven't de-centered men, only changed the 'polarity' of their relationship to them.

Still, I don't agree that "Male loneliness has nothing to do with women". The fact that men do not have male companionship does not negate that they yearn for female companionship, these aren't mutually exclusive.

Well, we are all aware here of the things you mention. I'd say reddit openly hates men, going far beyond 'not caring about them'. The constructive thing you can do about that is remember the slights, insults, misandrist treatment, and discrimination, and talk about it with the wider society. Know your rights, stand up for yourself, join a local men's rights organization. Yeah, so I think there's a difference between a group that has contingent membership (just formed for one meeting, and it depends on who's shown up, whether it's female or male-dominated), and groups which are constantly skewed towards a particular gender composition (doctors, lawyers, psychologists, techers, …). Certain stereotypical opinions are baked into these second type of groups, and ultimately form the group mentality.

I dunno, haven't asked… 🤷‍♂️ See, being a feminist isn't a binary thing like belonging to a political party or not. It's a spectrum. All women (and men) are somewhere on it. What do you expect from a dictator (remember that for criticizing the army in russia you you get jailed for 15 years) who invades a neighboring country simply because the authorities changed in this country (2014) and he doesn't like that?

Dude, I can understand that you're motivated by gender reasons. But men are dying on both sides on the frontline. It's not an issue of gender. It's not like rooting for russia is going to solve any problems men have in Western societies (or Eastern, for that matter, in which problems such as male disposability are magnified tenfold). Western societies are democratic. They value individual person's rights. None of that is true about russia, north korea etc. If we want to obtain any respect for ou…

“Who started the wars” That's clan mentality. You (in the plural) vs Us. That's treating all men like a single entity. Also, females war and fight just as much as males when they get the chance. Just watch the street fights from the hoods. The historical contingency that men take part in aggressive activities more than women only stands true because they are more specialized in physical aggression than women are. If there were no men to wage wars, the most warlike women would be waging them. “Wh…

Hm, maybe it would've been easier if some group had already been organized? Like, a few people got together and said "Yea we want a space for our activity"? Because as much as I support these initiatives, you have to hand it to women that theyir 'clubs' and other spaces usually attract more attention, whereas men on the whole — even when they get their space — don't attend very keenly, and it's hard to have a functioning project that almost nobody takes part in. The real catch-22 here is that this insult uses the stereotypical toxic trope of a man's worth being measured by his sexual performance (the more promiscuous, the better). This is exactly what the most toxic far-right factions, so reviled by the feminists, believe about men; this is exactly what causes men of low self-esteem to become sexually aggressive (to restore the status), and this is exactly what feminism is so hard at work on eradicating. So, once again, feminism is proving that it has n…

People whose status is not threatened, are self-confident, so they don't lose anything in showing empathy. They can sympathize both with women's issues and men's issues, because they have such abundance of self-respect, self-worth etc. that helping other people get better is not seen as a threat to them. I mean this is a meme that anyone can read anything into. Feminism allowed the extremists parts of the movement to take control. That's your opinion. When you have an affinity for a movement, you will judge it positively on the whole, and call everything you don't like "extremism". That's completely not the experience I'm having in the field. I wouldn't say women in the field are openly hostile towards men. In fact, if that were the case, it would be much easier to address the problem. Women just lack the male perspective, they are oblivious to it, and as a result they take for granted as "natural" and "obvious" things that are, in fact, peculiar to women and not at all in line with what men think. If you believe in God, you'll see everything as a God's act of will. If you believe in patriarchy, you'll see everything as an emanation of patriarchy. What you're doing in both cases is pointing out some societal problems and lumping them under a conjured up umbrella term of your liking. This is a faith-based approach. Feminism is at its core an ideology that aims for equality. Oof, dude… and Comrade Kim aims for an eternal paradise for his people. 🤦‍♂️ I think you might have a fantasy of yours that latches onto the term 'feminism' but it just sidesteps reality. Anyone saying anything that isn’t aimed at equality isn’t a Feminist and we should all be comfortable saying that. …in la la land, sure. For an analogy let’s think of a house. A house requires at least as many walls, floors, and roofs as necessary to e…

I didn't realize it's about size. I thought we're here to discuss real problems, not engage in a tug of war. Feminism has nothing to offer to men. It's a fundamentally anti-male ideology that even in its best version turns a deaf ear to real male problems, substituting them with bs which furthers its agenda, such as "Men need to cry more" or "Men need to earn less money" or "Men need to be weak". No, men need to be heard out and accepted, and that includes their full range of emotions, not the o…

This wasn't a feminist sub the last time I checked. Also, this person doesn't experience their gender the same way a straight biological male does, therefore they do not experience their needs being invalidated and their voice not listened to in the same way. They write about misandry because they've heard men have a problem with it, so that makes them "fit better". It's a totally different box of biscuits. Well, luckily things are changing, and even though male victims of female violence are still less likely to get help, charities and NGOs like Mankind are sprouting in the Western countries, and research is being done in the area. Women also need to realize that they often have it easier too. I think everyone needs to realize that people have problems that we don't know of, and show a little compassion towards strangers, instead of arguing over who has more problems.

Yeah, it seems this problem has been around for years, so it's not "stories" that "are popping up". A quick Google search reveals such stories dating back to 2012 or earlier. Absolutely blows my mind. Although you, OP, would do well to list links to sources, so people don't have to research the topic you brought up. Because in some of the stories (e.g., the Kansas case from 2014) it was ruled that the donor be absolved of any responsibility. So it's all very messy.

We all live in our little bubbles, absolutely. 👏 Very true. Yes, if you read the 2006 book by Norah Vincent called 'Self-Made Man' (that basically describes her 1.5 year experience of dressing up as a man and infiltrating male communities), on the cover it says something like "Men don't have it easier, they just have different problems". There is no one coherent concept behind "mansplaining". It's just a tag used to silence men. Whenever a man starts speaking, male white knights or angry feminazis will jump up yelling this word to induce guilt in him and have him shut up. Nice observation, though, which nevertheless applies to both sexes. People generally like to feel useful, for good and for bad. Well, I mean, withholding intimacy may also be a form of abuse, and that's emotional abuse. Vulnerable narcissists employ this tactic, for example. So while two wrongs don't make a right ("they abused me so I'm going to abuse them back"), it's unfair to blame everything on one side only.

That's not an attack, btw, that's just my experience, but then you haven't asked me to relay it, so perhaps I'm jumping the gun here.

There's a saying "Whether you think you'll succeed or fail, you're right". I think many outcomes in life depend on attitudes, and while I'm not negating your past setbacks, I'm getting the sense of a rather defeatist attitude from you. Like, everything's stacked against me, and I'm too old, and why even bother trying. Hope you don't take this the wrong way. Do you have a well-defined area of interest that you'd like to study, btw?

Well, that depends on how one plans things out. I mean, some people juggle education and work at the same time, so it's not like one has to go on hiatus until they finish the degree, and only then start work, right? Although I can certainly see how you might think that you'll never going to get to the place where those guys are who never had any obstacle in their life, started higher education at 19, finished it smoothly with flying colors, landed a great job, became a manager / team leader etc.…

Being a man without a job brings a constant feeling of pure shame and feeling of inadequacy. Okay, I get you. So what do you think would happen to these feelings of yours in a relationship? Meanwhile the women I know in my life with no job don’t seem very effected by it and don’t experience that same pressure. I'm not a fighter, so I sit there taking it with no help... Yes, this is very poignant, but I think the reason why you don't stand up for yourself might be because you just don't want to lose that person. It seems you've got a million complaints about her character and the relationship being so abusive; but again you long for it to be back to the previous state. How do you reconcile these two things?

It's a choice for both parties, but only one has control over the consequences. Again, it differs around the world. In the USA — that's true but for instance in Japan you need the father's permission for an abortion, and in Arab countries it's kinda tilted towards the father. I did some research on it years ago. But overall I agree, paper abortion should be legal (to the extent that abortion is legal) 👍

Therapy? Work? I'm just tired of feeling like it's the end of my world.. It's not. 'Patriarchy', in the context discussed here in this thread, is a mirage notion resulting from cherry-picking individuals and cherry-picking their attributes and then generalizing those. The wage gap exists (in my country at least) because pregnant women don't come to work but have to get paid, and that expense is baked into the salaries of women of reproductive age. There were attempts by some companies to include clauses forbidding employees to become pregnant while on their contract, but that was deemed illegal, so that's where we are now. Giving up the career and having someone care for you is a priviledge not a sacrifice. Most men will gladly do that as well Well, let's at least accept that people differ and it's literally different for everybody, shall we. Women are good at empathizing with other women; just like men are good at empathizing with other men — which isn't that much of a revelation. Why women are branded as "more empathetic" is I think due to the fact that problems peculiar to men just fly under the radar as if they weren't there, plus, men and women empathize in different ways, with women being more ostensibly concerned and emotional. Your remark about him "being able to defend himself" is wrong for yet another reason: people in abusive relationships are afraid. They're brainwashed and disconnected from reality. Sorry to say that, but you really need to fight for yourself. It's jungle out there. No one (least of all, a fellow man) will stick up for you if you yourself don't fight for yourself. Harsh reality.

Figure myself out, what do you mean? Well, like I said: what is it that you're expecting from this relationship (does it still exist?), what are the things keeping you in it, what are the things you don't like about it. Other people in this thread struck a similar chord: It's teaching me what trauma [or other things] in my past have caused me to be with this type of person. How I attracted this personality type to me unconsciously due to my traumatic experiences and how to heal those past experi…

Men gave up their absolute political power in the name of fairness but women did not give up their enormous 'soft' social power and façade of vulnerability. The soft power you speak of can only be exerted if men feel compelled to yield to women solely because they're women (so independently of whether they have a point or not). Unfortunately, many men do not know how to enter a constructive argument with a woman, or are afraid to do so; many men have been conditioned to think that male assertive…

But for men in the West, who are they afraid of? What prevents them from speaking up? Men are speaking up, like in this sub. The immediate results on Reddit are that a lot of other subs hold an automated blanket ban rule for any user who posts here (no matter the contents of their posts). In society, this ostracism is even more acute but in general, men are speaking up here and there.

Yes, I didn't think that [deleted] was a mod. Are you sure now, that they are in fact a mod? And the ladies sure like to police this sub. Sure, it can be helpful. As for the duration, I think every person is different and every person has different problems. Some people have a cold, while others have malignant cancer. I've known some women being annoyed by that. That's true, there are women like that. Wait, nobody has the exclusive right to define "toxic masculinity", and accordingly, there is no one single correct understanding thereof. /r/MensRights27/06/24 08:35 AM

Yes, this is a known issue, so to speak, with our culture. It only accepts men's sadness. Literally every other emotion (anger's at the top of the list) gets invalidated or dismissed.

/r/Divorce_Men27/06/24 08:05 AM

I don't know if I have an answer. It's a sad state we're in, where our societies have built this victimhood narrative around women's problems while men's problems either go completely unrecognized, or get laughed off. We as men need to learn to articulate our problems to society in a non-confrontative manner, which will ensure we get seen and not dismissed. On the flip side, it's great you find this sub welcoming. Keep posting and let's share experiences and insights, this (almost) always helps.…

/r/Divorce_Men26/06/24 09:55 PM

Yeah, then you can get labeled with all these petty labels. I usually just state my opinion, without getting into a discussion because 1) there's nothing to discuss here, really; and 2) I don't need some misandrist's approval to know I'm right and they are in the wrong.

Maybe this younger girl is amazing but is this an ego thing for him or did he just pick a girl based on logic like which relationship was easier to manage and fit in his current life. I know it costs money and is generally not the natural, ideal way to receive support but depending on where you live, it might be difficult for you to obtain in another way. If there's any particular thing you'd like to discuss or get support for, you can hit me up via DMs.

I haven't read the original comment before it got deleted but are you basically trying to say that the victim boy should be punished?

Why exactly isn't it rape under UK law?

Not trying to invalidate anyone's point of view here, but I personally don't care very much about a club that I didn't know until now existed, whose members themselves decided they want to admit women in. I understand the sentiment here, about male spaces being dissolved even as new female-only spaces are being created. I just don't think that this is necessarily the example of a male space I'd like to fight for. Now, for me the situation with the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts is different: the act…

'The tyrant weeps' and 'Victimology 101' are my "favorite" quotes about men's condition (depression, loneliness, problems etc.) taken from her book. Just SMH…

That's totally okay, bro, I'm always curious when it comes to this woman, so I wasn't trying to challenge anything you say. Of all the feminists, this was one I hoped to meet one day and have a talk with, but oh well…

True that. But you can also look at it from a different angle: some men that didn't have a father or had an absent father, or had a father who couldn't put his s*** together, were raised by misandrist women and internalized their hate. If your mother hates you, as a child, you tend to think there's something wrong with you, not with her. And nothing you do will ever satisfy her, you can't win her love in any way. So basically now these guys hate themselves and are on an endless journey to win wo…

I didn't know about the relationship ending and asylum bit, do you have any article or info about that? Because yeah of course, after the "experiment" she briefly checked into a mental hospital, but that's no "asylum" and I suppose you're referring to some other event in her life…?

Dunno why, but when I read "Women-only exhibit to become a toilet to keep men out" my brain reads that as "A museum has become a cesspool…" 🤔🤷‍♂️ Does that mean women will be able to defecate in the exhibit rooms or what? Kirsha Kaechele, the artist behind the lounge, has said she will challenge the ruling by making the space "compliant" with regulations. Ms Kaechele's plans involve transforming the velvet-clad lounge into a women's toilet and a church It is the greatest toilet, and men won’t be…

I mean… IDK what to say to the Himalayan levels of sexism in this article. The most astounding part is how it's just normalized, like they will say the most blatantly sexist things in a casual, offhand manner. We've raised a whole generation of pathological narcissists lacking any self-awareness or insight. Because trying to exert this level of control over your child means that the child is basically an object that you want to fulfill your needs. Deciding on your child's sex like that is like d…

Yea I suppose they'll reach 100% "inclusivity" and "diversity" when all counselors are female lol 😂 The only comment to that post I can think of is "Are you for real?"

Of course you're right and I agree but Dude... every body part turns nasty if you don't clean it. what's wrong with all the people talking about cleaning it as if it were any harder than cleaning your armpits 🤦‍♂️

From a medical perspective, we in the US treat the male prepuce differently from literally every single other part of human anatomy, and it's solely to protect the feelings of people who have either been circumcised by someone who loves them, or have had someone they love circumcised. For someone outside the US, it's so so shocking. Wow. And your reasoning is also on point 👌 it's basically "I've been mutilated and I don't want to admit it, therefore it must be good"...

That doesn't change anything. It's your body, not theirs.

How about chopping your dick completely, so you don't get cancer? I mean, having any part of the body increases chances of cancer growing in that part, can't argue with that.

So what? Which girls? Why would that matter anyway? Whose body is it? That's like: "gals, wear long hair, boys prefer that". Except you can always grow or cut your hair, and genital mutilation is permanent. That's a bad attempt at post-hoc justification of abuse (probably) inflicted on you.

Yes, might've been. It's the women vs. men mentality. Interestingly, I've been to a Ukrainian poetry evening the other day, where the translator (woman) of the guest poet (woman) said that women's suffering is greater than men's in this war because they get raped and then they proceeded to read a poem about rape. Then there was a round of questions from the audience and I said I don't think there's any need to compare people's suffering and actually some people applauded that. Many women have a …

Yes but frankly, I can't find this exact statement in the linked image, nor on the website https://childrenbelieve.ca/dangers-to-women-in-ukraine-on-womens-day/ The guy who wrote this articlu just copy-pasted a statement from itv news article he links to, which was made in the context of: "2/3 of refugees are women, therefore there's a lot of women to help".

That's true but why are all these people even on these lists? How does that work, do you dictate who's on there?
