I am self employed. I understand what you are saying, I have put my business on cruise control, it’s doing well, but it’s not getting the attention it would. I have our 8 and 11yr olds either Sunday morning through Thursday afternoon or Monday afternoon through Thursday afternoon, alternating every other week. During the school year, 98% of nights with me are school nights. Their mom wanted this schedule because of her new part time job that was Monday-Thursday. That job lasted a 6 months.. It w…

99% of judges will start at 50/50 custody. If 50/50 is somewhat possible with work schedules and living arrangements, and there is no significant history of abuse, mental health issues or active substance abuse, 50/50 is what’s best for most children. In my case, my ex wife would be considered “controlling” she didn’t make it easy to be a parent while we were married. Fast forward, my children are now 8 and 11, and I am the primary parent. They are with me during the week. My relationship with m…

I’m almost two years divorced. Not only do I still have zero desire to date, I share custody of my 8 and 11yr old children and I own a business.

“I thought marriage was supposed to be forever.. well it’s not. But you know what is forever? Divorce. Divorce is for ever.” -Louis CK. This bit made me feel better when I was in your shoes. I hope it gets easier for you in the future.

Unfortunately my only choice is to follow it. We share custody of our 2 children, and I have them during the week. Fortunately the order did not really affect my time with them, just dropping off and picking up their bags. The hearing for the order is on Tuesday. I will update.

She is staying in our home, I am at my parents. We share custody. She is not taking care of our house, it’s a disaster apparently. Our hearing is coming up and i said to her I want the house because she can’t care for it properly and provide a good home for the kids, that she could provide a different better home for the children if it was more manageable for her. In that conversation, I held her accountable for the first time ever maybe. And the following week I was served with a protection fro…

On a different note, I ended up keeping mine on for like a year after she filed for divorce. I have our 7 and 10 yr old children during the week, and I own restaurants. I kept the ring on because I wasn’t necessarily “available” and it helped avoid certain conversations. I wasn’t bothered when some people asked why I wore it. Once my life was very much transitioned, it started to feel like I was living a lie by keeping it on. Now two years later, the dent on my finger is just starting to go away…

Our divorce is nearly final. I knew she’d probably eventually move on. Our marriage had no infidelity, we were each others only partners for 15 years. Just A few days ago I was dropping off our children’s bags to her at our marital home. There was a pickup truck in the driveway. This was the first instance of such. I stayed calm, handed off the bags, holding my emotion in resulted in tears. She saw my tears, which made her tear up too. I finally asked “is he staying here with the children?” She …

Married 13 years, now divorced. I didn’t see our relationship the way I do now. After a while, I was blind to what was really happening. My contribution was that I allowed her to have control over my life. I chose again and again to take the easy, more comfortable stance for me, which was to keep quiet and not question her choices. I didn’t set or hold boundaries, I didn’t hold her accountable. I went along with thinking I needed to do better to be treated better. In the end, she needed me to be…
