Question: If you both have him for portions of the year and both pay for his well-being in some capacity or another, why can't you both claim him? Just because you aren't together doesn't mean you aren't both his parents, even if you share custody. I don't understand.

I don't know how much stock it would be given in this sub, but I heard about this happening about a year ago on a podcast from England called "Women's Hour." This isn't just a one off or a new story - maybe to Reddit, but not elsewhere.

Not that it's right, but you don't actually donate until you confirm the follow up text they send you. You have to actively text back after they ask you if you want to donate, and actually, I think you have to text "DONATE" to that number to begin with.

I come here and really try to lend support to the MRA cause. I've learned a lot that I didn't know about before and have changed my way of thinking on some issues. Threads like this make me incredibly sad because there's a lot of assuming going on - almost all negative about women in general, which doesn't help the MRA cause one bit. This thread is kind of advocating we throw away single mothers (not single fathers, I see) and their children because they're too much of a dating liability. A lot …

I'm really glad my step-father didn't feel that way about my widowed mother. Damn her for having her husband die and leave her with a 9 year old child. Right? Edit: please tell me how a widow is just a woman not taking responsibility for her actions?

... which makes sense if she's new to reddit and clicking the "random" button to get better acquainted with the site.

You're right - it IS a huge difference, but a difference many often fail to distinguish when they discuss mens rights and women in general. From the way some comments read in this sub, you'd think all women are feminists.

"It irritates churches that they have to include abortion in thir coverage, and that if they self insure they have to cover abortion." Churches, if truly churches that take no gov't money, can opt out and have the exclusion. If an organization, religious or not, takes public money (i.e. tax dollars), they must comply and provide coverage for birth control.

My husband and I are childfree, and it's one of the first things that brought us together. It's pretty great!

Vaginal infections are very different than STDs, and caused by an imbalance of alkaline/acidity, but yes, women can very easily get an infection. Female bodies can sort of self destruct sometimes - no outside influence necessary.

... You've lost me. It's just as risky for women to perform oral sex on men. I think it carries the same risk for both genders since HPV can be very silent and either gender can be a carrier without knowing they have it. Either gender can be promiscuous. I think the moral of the story is don't perform oral sex with a casual fling - make sure your partner is clean.

I think your advice is fabulous for both genders.

I feel like r/MRA forgets that all women do not = feminists.

I would hope so - being pro-choice is also the argument that makes "financial abortion" work.

Why? When my husband and I were dating, whoever suggested the date/activity paid. It worked out pretty 50/50 and I actually spent more money on him during that time. Of course our relationship is very egalitarian so maybe our situation was different?

Yes, but the question is would it be considered rape. By the definition of rape, no it would not. However, yes, people are charged with rape as a crime. "Rape in the first degree," etc. http://ypdcrime.com/penal.law/article130.htm

I would think it can't be rape without penetration. I would think "sexual assault" would apply.

You totally had me up until "women COULD be quite safe from rape as long as they didn't do foolish things."

"Really, girl, do you think you are somehow guaranteed to have the same ethics in even five years much less twenty?" Girl? Why are you being so patronizing? She knows her marriage better than you do (as well as herself). You are questioning her ethics and behavior simply because she is female. I'm new to this subreddit and actually really enjoy the debates. I'm becoming more aware of issues that negatively affect men in our society and am learning a lot. I don't agree with everything, but I am g…

Well my husband and I have separate accounts so we can control our money better. We pay our bills from our own accounts (student loans, our part of rent, etc - he pays cable and electricity and I pay the phone bill), but we also have a joint account that we contribute to for household stuff/vacation/that kind of stuff. We both know what the other is spending their money on. Having a separate account from your joint doesn't necessarily mean financial infidelity. We used to pay more from our joint…

If you go into marriage with the mindset that your partner will screw you over, just don't get married. Trust is really important. That isn't to say that you can't be proactive. For instance, my husband and I have a joint account and separate accounts because I don't want to throw all of my money into one pot and then, if something were to happen, I have access to my own cushion. He knows, however, whats in that account and I'm open with him about how I spend my money. Trust is huge. I'm sorry O…

Responsibility, when it comes to conceiving a child, is equal. Having a womb doesn't mean you're more likely to conceive. Conceiving a child is a 50/50% operation.

Just like women need to take responsibility for having sex with a man without a condom if he doesn't want to wear it, he needs to take responsibility if the woman doesn't want him to wear it. Unless it is a situation of rape, he could also be advocating "no glove, no love" as well and opt out of sex (or take responsibility for any and all consequences).

"but the majority of cases are "I got drunk and now I regret it, therefore rape"." Citation?

Most condom failure is the fault of the user (using the wrong size, putting it on wrong, not using it religiously). That being said, they do still occasionally fail (breakage, etc).

It's very unprofessional, but I've worked in an office where exactly what you described was allowed too. One of the people in my department had women in bikinis all over his cubicle. For either gender, I think its tasteless.

I'm not moving goal posts. The initial argument was raised was that hoodies make you appear to be a gang banger, which makes you more likely to be shot, which is a ridiculous argument. Reactionary, overzealous people with guns who see a minority in a hoodie are to blame, not the hoodie. If a person's behavior is completely innocent, you cannot use their clothing as an excuse to go after them.

No, but if I did, that's an excuse for somebody to shoot me? Really.

New Pap guidelines just came out this year, as did the first steps toward getting boys vaccinated for HPV.

So if I'm a white, 115 lb, 5'6 female wearing jeans and my Western Michigan University hoodie with the hood up, I'd be dressed like a gang-banger? A hoodie does not indicate possible criminal behavior.

So my husband and I don't want kids. We split costs of everything (condoms included) but keep separate bank accounts and write separate checks. Why should he also not pay for 1/2 of birth control? I can't get pregnant by myself, and I buy every other box of Trojans. It's not a cut and dry issue.

No it's not. There are many uses for the pill that does nothing to benefit men but regulates a woman's body. There should have been women involved to present the science behind the medication that has nothing to do with sex - or men.

However, there are plenty of women who use BC not because they are sexually active but to regulate hormonal levels to control other female specific conditions - that is specific to women only.
