Yes, thank you for the correction. Moreover, I do like your system where the state picks up the tab if the accused is not proven guilty. I think this solves the problem of innocents being charged legal fees, and this would also incentivize the State to only take cases that it thinks could win.

Wow, this story should be on the front page! This is a perfect example of the potential perils of being a guy in our society. I am so sorry that this happened to you, and I can't imagine the injustice and pain that you've gone through. Your post has really illuminated this problem. Again, I am so sorry this has happened, and all I can do is sympathize with your suffering in this matter. The injustice here drives me crazy.

That's a fair point. But maybe it would also incentivize the state to only bring cases that had a proper foundation. Moreover, I am against the injustice of forcing an innocent to pay monumental legal fees. I think that this injustice along with some incentives which might bring the state to bring stronger cases outweighs the incentive of the judiciary and the police to act fraudulently.

In the very frequent case that there is no substantial evidence, it is nearly impossible to prove that the claim was "false" or "true," meaning that a vast majority of false rape accusers can cause defendants to incur insanely high legal fees for something that they haven't even been proven to have done.
