You know, there's an alternative to "going your own way." It's to find a girl who doesn't behave like Amy describes (she says flat out that it would require work to get an avocado and she doesn't want to do that), and to create a rewarding relationship. Swearing off women just because there are some ones out there who you don't want, is insanity and suicidal.

Be the banana. Only if you want to get laid. If you want a keeper, be the avocado and partner up with a woman who looks for the avocados rather than riding the banana carousel. Being the banana is a really shitty long-term strategy. It can be fun when you're young and horny but when you get older, IF you grow up and aren't a man-child, you'll want a real relationship that works for both of you.

They simply prefer bananas. Wrong. They prefer bananas (bad boys) for some things and avocados (reliable, safe partners) for others. There's lots of empirical evidence that seems to indicate this, like the UCLA study or all the past studies showing women's attraction to men with higher testosterone when the women are ovulating, and women's attraction to men with relatively lower testosterone when childrearing.
