Could very well be. As I don't live in Sydney, I'm not familiar with this publication. Perhaps someone else from around that area of the world can chime in on the article's validity.

At least where I'm from, that sort of social conditioning starts in high school. Many of the girls at that age do everything they can to "train" their boyfriends into doing their bidding. Boys are expected to submit to the shit tests, and most simply succumb to it. Hell, I've experienced it first hand, and it took a lot of time to undo the damage.

I've given him as much advice as he'll listen to about it. To my roommate's credit, though, he does stand his ground whenever she starts getting pissy about playing video games and stuff, such as telling her to get off her high horse and chill the fuck out. However, he avoids confrontation where possible, so if push comes to shove and she's REALLY nagging him about it, he'll just give up. I've tried to tell him to stand his ground on all occasions, because of course it's about more than playing …

We should complain about hobbies. I absolutely agree. I've since moved in with my old roommate from college, along with his girlfriend (they purchased a house together). While I both get along with and enjoy their company, I've noticed that any time both he and I want to play video games together, she gets all up in a stink. Every. Single. Time. Plus, I absolutely LOVE seeing the double standard in play when they're doing thing that they enjoy. For example, she is allowed to go out and do things…

It's sad to see how much the "you have to make her happy in order to get sex/a girlfriend" agenda is pushed at young boys, especially in high school. Hell, it can start earlier than that, especially since girls mature quicker than boys. When I was in high school, it was expected of boys to buy their girlfriends lots of gifts. Stupid shit like flowers, chocolates, etc. And for what? The chance at maybe getting laid? Not likely. The hypergamy bubble in women starts VERY young. Shit, my high school…

You know how at the end of the video she runs off, stops, contemplates leaving again, then runs off again? My dog does that. It frustrates the hell out of me. I hope this woman gets her due justice.

Ah, I see someone else surfs Hacker News! I read this article last night when I got home from work. Had basically the same thoughts that OP shared with us. I do, however, want to bring forth a comment from the original HN thread: Let's be honest here, feelings of being devalued have everything to do with putting capital ahead of personality. Capital comes in many forms and in the case of Tinder, from the heterosexual male perspective, the goal is to acquire sexual capital (i.e. "fuck hot chicks"…

To add onto what /u/CisWhiteMaelstrom said, if you're going to Soft Next her, then keep all communication between you two fixed on Business -- in this case, your class together. If she wants to meet up for lab homework or whatever, then set the time and place, as you mentioned. She'll continue to string you along as an orbiter, feeding you just enough scraps to keep your interest. Obviously, don't buy into it. If you decide to Soft Next, only meet up for classroom related stuff, at times and loc…

A lot of my close college friends live more than an hour away. Yet, we still find time to get together and play some DotA 2 a couple times a week. Good times.

Totally agree with this. From the get-go, she's trying to assert dominance over you OP. Be extra careful with how you play out things in the future. Good for you though for not answering her shit test. That was well done. I'd say Soft Next. If she wants you so badly, let her come to you. If she wants to hang out again, fine, but don't be the first to reach out. Be distant and let her do the work.

I was 21, almost 22. She had just turned 19. I'm now nearly 24 and she recently turned 21. Things are good. She's living with me and my roommate for the summer while she has an internship. She's heading back to school for her last year at college. I've been out of school for a year now and work full time. It's a bit difficult because she's still a poor college student whereas I have a bit of money, so I have to pay for groceries and stuff. However, she makes me dinner every night and we have sex…

I'm incredibly lucky to have the parents that I do. Both my mom and my dad are married (just celebrated 28 years together last week), and both did a damn good job raising both myself and my younger sister. Dad sacrificed a lot for the family. He worked at a job that he hated in order for us to live a comfortable life. He was out the door before dawn and didn't come home until after dark. While he complained about it, he never let it get to him. Fortunately for him, he was laid off and is now wor…

I've been told that "naturally" is my Safe Writing word by past English professors. I try to keep it to a minimum, but obviously I have more to improve upon.
/r/TheRedPill13/02/15 01:20 PM

Someone probably did. That's the only reason I see for her to change her mood like that. I don't know if it was one of her orbiters or a girl friend, but someone else stepped in mad convinced her that she was being a cunt. Now she just feels bad because she's being (rightfully) cast in a negative light and is trying to backtrack into everyone's good graces.

That's pretty much what he replied back to her. I don't know what pisses me off more: the willingness to let that kind of behavior continue, or the fact that she is that manipulative.

Whenever the two of us discuss problems he is having with his girlfriend, I typically cut through the spin he puts on the situation and call out her actions for what they are: unacceptable bullshit. He usually agrees with my opinion, but he's, "Too much of a nice guy to phrase it like that." That's good advice, though, telling him that she won't respect him unless he stands up to her. I'll definitely start letting him know. It may be too late to save her respect, but maybe he won't make the same…

+1 for the dog. I don't think that OP can get one, considering he's in college, but it's a great idea regardless. Not only are they Man's Best Friend, but they're totally dependent on you for everything. For you situation, OP, take care of your grades. Not the same thing as taking care of a live being, but you're still totally responsible for them. It'll take work and dedication, which is something you could use.

OP, you need to take this statement right here to heart. I had a similar situation to yours back when I was completing my undergrad. I was dating a chick since high school, had oneitis in the absolute worst way, and she dumped me. I tried whatever I could to get her to see me in a positive light and hopefully get back with her, but she has (rightfully) lost all respect for me. She dumped you, dude. Any respect she had for you has since flown the coop. I have no idea why she did it, but that does…

There's really no right answer for this, because everyone's parental relationship is different. The easiest thing you can do is to work on you, raise your confidence, raise your SMV, etc etc. You already recognize the damage that she inflicted, now you have to reverse that damage. If you really are that repulsed by her, then why bother interacting with her? There's nothing forcing you to interact or visit with her, so if you don't want to, then don't do it. If you DO want to interact with her, t…

Women have this uncanny ability to use a man's feelings against them, completely ripping their self-esteem and self-worth to shreds without a second thought. This girl sounds like she's about ready to do this to your friend. The sanest answer would be to IMPLORE him to Next her. She's already said "I don't want to be with you, but I want to keep you around just in case no one else wants me tonight." Seriously, who the fuck does that to someone else? A woman, that's who. In this case, "cis" is short for "cissexual", which is the opposite of "transsexual". Cissexual people identify as the sex that they were born with, so you are a cissexual person for having XY chromosomes, along with identifying as a male.

I was in a similar situation to you, OP, when I was a freshman/sophomore in college. I was dating this girl that I went to high school with, and was addicted to the idea of being "high school sweethearts". I did whatever I could to keep her in my life, despite her having lost attraction to me not too long into the relationship. Needless to say, the Blue Pill was strong with me. The worst part about that situation was that I refused to look inwardly and accept the problems I had. I was attracted …

Question for you, OP. You've stated in your opening, plus in several other comments in this thread, that you're not too keen on the idea of having another man's spawn in the picture, considering that means that the other man will ALWAYS be present, in one way or another. You've also stated that, being in an LTR, you could potentially see this woman being your future wife, maybe. That means, if you plan on sticking around for a long time, you and her kid are going to be interacting more and more.…

I want to add on to this a little bit. If you work in a position where you go to conferences through work or for a hobby, you already know that first impressions are incredibly important. You want to be memorable to other people, and you want to be remembered in a positive light. A good, firm handshake is a key part in your impression, but I would say the keystone to a good first impression is making them remember your name. And the easiest way to do that (specifically at public functions): wear…

He learned the hard way that women generally do not hold these virtues when push comes to shove. I've been there too, and it fucking sucks. I had a girlfriend in my early college years with some self esteem issues. Being the good beta buck that I was, I complemented her as often as possible, appealed to her emotions and ego, until one day she got the courage to join a damn sorority. Suddenly, she was being fawned over by her "sisters" and other mouth-breathing fraternity guys. As soon as she rea…

I sympathize with the woman in that video in that I HATE talking to people while I'm walking. Granted, I'm from New England, where we are notoriously "closed off" to the public, so take my opinion for what it is. While tactless "Hey baby, how you doin'??" is pretty much guaranteed not to work and comes across as desperate or creepy, a simple "Hi there, have a good day/evening" is harmless, and indeed a polite thing to say. If I were to do that to someone, I'd simply want to make the other person…

What I've always taken issue to is the idea that gay men/lesbian women must act a certain way, i.e. effeminate gay men and butch lesbian women. They're their own damn person, they should be able to act and behave however they damn well please. I had several male, gay friends in college, and each was as different of a person from each other as any other heterosexual person is from others. A couple fell into the stereotype of "flamboyant attitude with brightly colored attire", while others acted a…

Props to your friend for doing that line of work. I'm sure the deals with a lot of other crap as well, and it's good to have such level-headed people in that line of work. What blows my mind about your story (and many such similar ones posted here) is the level of hamstering that occurs in the minds of these women in order to deflect any blame for their wrongdoings. The only validity that "yes doesn't always mean yes" is under terms of blackmail. If someone somehow blackmails another person into engaging in a sexual act, that is considered a form of sexual assault. However, such an act is already illegal.

I have to disagree with your assertion that the rise of feminism has lead to the economic downturn of the global economy; that's simply not true. There's been a long, consolidated effort by The Powers That Be to move more of the global wealth and power to the "top of the pyramid". However, one thing that HAS been almost completely destroyed by feminism are (and as an atheist, the irony is not lost on me for saying this) Core Family Values. If anything, I find the design to be a bit bland. Not necessarily a bad thing by any means, but if they wanted to spruce up the design a bit, I wouldn't be offended. But in all practicality, they need one "template" for every article, and there are MILLIONS of articles. Having a "one size fits all" template is hard already, so any changes that will be made have to be tested against all of those articles to ensure readability won't be negatively impacted. Damn, just thinking about it gives me dre…

Interesting article, because it made me think. There are some deeper, more important issues that the author scratches the surface on. On the subject of her getting more attention: no shit. When you look "normal" and not obese (like we were never supposed to be), you will of course garner the attention of others. It shows discipline and self control, both of which are attractive features for both sexes to have. Same reason why TRP preaches working out and "working on your own image". No one likes…

I don't really see the point of being an unprovoked asshole to women. Simply because gender roles put you in charge doesn't give you the authority to be a dick to someone. If there is a LOGICAL reason to do something, such as using a single person restroom regardless of the sign on the door, then do it. If some woman puts up a fit at you for "breaking the rules", then by all means shut her down. However, heckling some chick at a bus stop by pretending she's a prostitute, simply to get others to …

The only reasonable argument that I can see is the standard sexist, "Get back in the kitchen!" slander that happens everywhere. While that kind of behavior really pisses me off, it's not JUST the tech industry where you'll find shitheads that say that. In all reality, it comes down to how the male and female brains are wired. Men are much more technically focused and enjoy tinkering with things, whereas women are more focused on interpersonal relationships and the like. It's a large factor in wh…

I simply hope that we'll all learn to get a long as we once did. To me, TRP has always been about equality, where no one is entitled to anything based solely on their gender. When a man can come to the realization that happiness and confidence comes from within, the ladies will flock to him. When women realize that their actions have consequences and "the right guy" will not come if they whore out their youth, "the right guy" will come across them. I can't see how that's a bad thing.

The only thing you can do with this is stop the cycle when it's within your power. When I have kids, you can bet your ass that I'll be active in their lives and teach them how to act properly. My son(s) will be taught self-confidence, while my daughter(s) will be taught self-respect. It's a damn shame so many people didn't have such an upbringing, but that's out of our power.

While I understand the frustration many women have over gaining a lot of baby weight during pregnancy, being a judgmental bitch to others who put in the effort to remain fit doesn't help. Never ceases to amaze me how far some women will go to shame other women, all to try and dodge the criticism that they're being lazy. If you just had a baby and are tired of your post-birth body, go to the damn gym for a few hours and work out! Or, even better, workout during your pregnancy!

This entire situation is completely retarded. It could have easily been avoided if cooler heads had prevailed. Holding out from having kids until you're on sound financial ground is a Good Idea. Sure, she may want kids, but she seems to have seen the light (even if she disagreed with it).
