I still recommend school. Go to a community college and double major in accounting and religion or something. If you want to run a successful business, you need good business fundamentals. Your best chance at not getting paid minimum wage is to have a college degree in something useful. I see that among queer women in their early 20's but they mellow out about dating as they get older. I think part of it is that many queer women miss out on dating in their teens and when they are finally free to date women, they make the mistakes in who to date/how to date due to lack of experience or a sense of urgency to make up for lost time.

A lot of planning for capital expenditure and hiring for this year would have happened before the tax plan was approved as many companies' fiscal year are the same as the calendar year. Capital investments have been rising for years now and that type of expenditure tend to follow company profit growth and not typically tied to whatever new law Congress felt like passing.

We are literally riding a decade long improvement in the economy (though some of the regions of the US is still under duress), based on the actions of the last administration. Yup, the divorce statistic is inflated. I think when people talk about the trope, they are referring to the initiators of divorce; it appears that women initiate divorce at a higher rate than men. It begs the question of why that is the case. TRP tends to blame it mostly on hypergamy. TBP tends to blame it on other factors like abuse or irreconcilable differences.

The 50% statistic is a bit misleading. If I recall correctly, it includes people who re-married and that's an issue since one of the predictors of divorcing is if you have divorced before. If you marry later in life and are both college educated you have the least likelihood of getting divorced. My interpretation of that is people who are stable in their lives are more capable of sustaining a long term relationship.

I think people think society should change faster than possible. As a bit more of an extreme example, think of the native americans. I think it's easier to understand if you know people who are gender fluid. Those labels are useful because those people don't have words that adequately describe them. They're not exactly trans. They don't always see themselves as a woman. They don't always see themselves as a man. Sometimes they don't see themselves as either. That's why fluidity is part of the name. Meh. I walk in wee hours of the night by myself in large cities fairly regularly without worrying about getting raped. Statistically, I am faaaaar more likely to be mugged than raped. I think people are fairly bad at estimating risk even when the statistics are known. The baseball example you give is too simplified. When I think about heuristics, I'm thinking about how to pick the best option when the domain space is massive. There are rules, the heuristics, of how to move around the domain to try to reach an optimal solution, in our case dating/sex/relationship/whatever, but the process also has to include a way to mitigate the potential of getting stuck in a local optimum solution instead of a global one. I am a rather petite woman. People offer to help if I am lifting anything remotely cumbersome. Random guys will try to get me to smile, either straight up telling me to smile or they start acting goofy. People that are lost will pick me out of a crowd to ask for directions. I am deemed trustworthy at first glance. Edit: I can also blatantly stare at women I think are hot without anyone thinking it's creepy or out of the ordinary.
