hyperbolize the issues There was a lady who accused men of sexual assault in multiple jurisdictions so she could burgle their houses while they were in jail. She eventually got caught, but I don't think it's an overstatement to call it an injustice system. To add insult to injury we release arrest records to the public before an investigation.

If the prosecutors couldn't push the cases without hard or strong circumstantial evidence then fewer people would be scared into taking a plea bargain for something they didn't do, regardless of their resources. It should be illegal and there should be oversight of the prosecutors to prevent them from doing it.

They're not forced to live somewhere to get free money. They choose that. Physical standards for women in the military should be lower; that's fair. What's unfair is affirmative action based on race or gender itself, assuming there's long been equal opportunity.

Lots of things are illegal but ethical. Cryptocurrency is one way to retain financial fairness in a marriage at relatively low risk outside of an obvious bubble. Of course the spouse may be squirreling money away as well.

Ouch! I've read that the prices are crazy there. The rule of thumb in the US is that it's a bubble when the price to buy is > 200 times the monthly rent, and buying approaches a no-brainer at < 100 times the monthly rent.

Yeah, probably don't buy there, or wait for the current bubble to pop. There are plenty of good houses in mid-sized cities in the US for under $300k. That's about the value of my house. It doesn't have to be a house either. It could be a studio condo or whatever the smallest you can still enjoy.

I'm no lawyer, but I cannot imagine that an individual who has since lost their job and has been diagnosed with a serious heart condition would be thrown in jail for unfaithful child support payments. I can. I doubt the judge would even allow him to speak.

Do you have such a job? I do software development for a Fortune 50 company and it's never been like that for me. The stats people have had ample time too. I believe the death march happens for game development and startups, though. A general rule is that a good developer can be 10X more productive than a mediocre one. Aka work smart, not hard. The 10X developer may look downright lazy.

This change is for math and computer science. I suppose some jobs for those degrees are high pressure (to the degree of a timed test), but I've never encountered them or seen friends have them. I think it's rare. The only such pressure I've seen is an interview.

I believe most stay-at-home parents have it easy, based on my years of doing that. Also a buddy of mine who's a stay-at-home dad can hardly stop smiling about it; he claims he's retired. Certainly some (e.g. disabled child) have it difficult; my hat's off to them.

I'd love to see a gradual drop in population due to attrition. Lower house prices, less traffic, fewer crowds in nature, etc. Sadly though the US population is still increasing exponentially via immigration. Easily more than 1 billion people would move here if allowed to, so the US can keep its population rocketing upward, many cranes in every major city trying to keep pace. There's no happy ending in sight!

The EU countries could kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Offer a 1-year streamlined path to citizenship for the highly skilled, like Japan is doing. They'd soon no longer be losing to the anglosphere, as they'd have poached a large chunk of its workers. Japan is offering 70-hour work weeks with no vacation until you die of exhaustion, whereas in Germany it's probably 40 hours, 6 weeks gov't mandated vacation, and a clear path to a comfortable retirement.

Good point. Requiring unnecessary degrees is probably a factor in the unemployment. I expect a lot of social norms to fall (as it did for tech, e.g.) when push comes to shove. Even super xenophobic Japan is implementing a 1-year track to citizenship.

Agreed with all that. Unfortunately the wealthy rule, esp. when the GOP is in power. The US population is growing at about 0.7% per year. The birth rate hardly matters. We're going to have to endure every major city growing about 7% per decade. It wouldn't matter if 90% of the voters wanted a halt to immigration.

I doubt this. I'd say it's 95%+ women who strongly want kids, and maybe half of men who do. The birth rate is down mainly because of the cost of kids. If they could be raised significantly cheaper the birth rate would probably shoot up.

The mere threat of her credible & crying testimony would have his lawyer advising him to take the plea deal. A jury may well vote to acquit when the only evidence was her testimony, but it's not worth the risk of a 30 year sentence.

The only evidence needed is her testimony. She needn't describe his dick; it was dark, after all. The prosecutor would give him 2 choices: 30 years for a guilty verdict, or 5 for a plea deal. His lawyer would tell him to take the deal. Recording interactions as a preventative measure is a good idea.
